This tea is amazing. You can taste the creamy vanilla and sweet strawberry, but the nuttiness from the hazelnut is what pushes it over the top. Mmmm its like a dessert. Plus it has sprinkles so its pretty haha.

This didn’t turn out quite how I expected. Instead of the flavors and spices layering together into distinct phases of the cup as I’d hoped, it moreso blended and became its own entity. Which honestly works considering the character’s species history in Project Tribal. The peppermint plays very nicely, the spice is barely noticeable and not overpowering as planned, and the flavor is quite literally “dark”- it is a fullbodied taste without being overly dry, and is very subtle in the way the chocolate mint plays throughout- it’s not an in-your-face chocolate mint profile and makes a compelling background. At the same time, this is a tea which needs to be focused on and respected for what it is. I’m certain I’ve caught the essence of this character in a flavor, and that’s pretty (bleep)ing exciting. :) It’s not an in-your-face powerful tea, so it may be underappreciated by those expecting/wanting a strong cup wherein each flavor is tasted consecutively, but it’s definitely really good. Dare I say great?

I’m pretty certain this is the first time I’ve had ceylon/assam, and this definitely is the first time I’ve had it (or this blend).

There’s only a pinch of spice, and so it’s not a super fancy tea, but it’s very direct. Still deliciously fruity but not overpowering, and that’s what I’d wanted. Slightly drying, not too froo-froo fancy, and warming.

For this character in particular, I think this is perfect for now, but I’d love feedback!!

I really like this one so far. I keep expecting my former, non-adagio black creme chocolate-mint tea when I drink this, but this is what the posh folks are drinking in their Christmas jammies and robes watching the lights sparkle on the trees when the kids are in bed. It’s mildly sweet, and smells incredible. It tastes so much higher quality than my non-adagio tea, and I know that it seems to have been designed for a mellow tone (which it delivers in spades rather than BOOM, this is chocolate mint!!! : D ). The only thing I can think of as a thing I’ll need to try in the future is to add a creme note to it, but I worry that might dilute the flavor. This is a beautiful, awesome mild after-dinner chocolate-mint mellow, and I really treasure it for the composed and refined work that it is. (Not to mention- I am smitten with this adorable little tin, and the art is gorgeous!) I love this tea.

Drinking the last of this tea today while watching Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. RIP Carrie Fisher.

This tea was sent to me by SuperStarling! She must really want me to try it because she sent a sample to me in both of our swaps so far ;)

I’m glad you did though! Becaaauuuseee I really like it! Yay!

My boy is sick. Yesterday was his birthday and he had a 103F fever with vomiting. I’m sitting on the couch with him this morning. I wanted something warm and fuzzy and comforting. So I reached for Chewie. Save us, Chewie! You’re our only hope!

And saving me he is. Nutty and chocolate is like one of my favorite combinations on this earth so this is really hitting the spot. Plus, my wife (for some unknown and perplexing reason) has a strong distaste for hazelnut. I happen to love it. I try to get that flavor into my mouth whenever I can because it ain’t happening with a shared dish/drink. And this tastes like a toasted hazelnut chocolate tea. Yeeessssss…..

If I seem extra super jacked up it’s because I’m trying to find some sunshine wherever I can right now and this is one of those places/teas.

Hope he feels better soon!

Thank you! He is getting there. Fever is gone and food is being held down. Just dealing with croup and fatigue now.

Sipdown! Though, technically my husband sipped this one down as his work tea for the day.

Decent black tea, not a whole lot of fruit or vanilla flavor though. Not bad, but not really worthy of a reorder.

At some point I was going to have to try some of Adagio’s fandom blends. The concept is just so fun that I knew I would not be able to resist. The only problem was choosing where to begin. There are so many of these things. I ultimately decided to start with a sampler of Mass Effect fandom blends. I not only needed to get my nerd on, but also celebrate it openly.

This particular blend is a mixture of Adagio’s Earl Grey Moonlight, blackberry, and raspberry. I prepared it using the one step Western infusion process I often favor for non-Chinese black teas and many black tea blends. I steeped 1 teaspoon of loose tea in 8 ounces of 212 F water for 5 minutes. No additional infusions were attempted.

Prior to infusion, I noted that this blend emitted a mild creamy, fruity aroma with just a hint of citrus. After infusion, I noted strong aromas of vanilla, cream, bergamot, blackberry, and raspberry joined by just a hint of orange peel. In the mouth, I detected strong fruity notes of blackberry, raspberry, bergamot, and orange up front that were quickly joined by notes of cream and vanilla underscored by toast. The texture was very creamy and smooth, as the blend lacked the soapiness of traditional Earl Grey blends.

It kind of pains me to say this, but I found this to be a nice blend. The fruity sweetness was balanced and the creaminess was not overwhelming. As usual, I wish the body were somewhat fuller and heavier, which is my typical complaint with Earl Greys and flavored black tea blends in general, but that is a fairly minor quibble. I don’t really have any serious complaints with this one.

Argh Monday! And that particular kind of Monday where you are tired, all the clients are calling with complicated things, and all the appointments are running late. Simultaneously people are walking in off the street with no appointments, everyone is grumpy, and you suspect lunch will be late.
Sigh.
This is a very cuddly sort of rooibos, warm, with a touch of nuttiness to it which is pleasant.
I’ve really liked trying this one! And its helped with this bonkers morning.
Sipdown.

It was so much fun to try this!
Warm, woody, nutty, a bit odd, this tea was a good way to pep up the afternoon.

This is a slightly bitter fruity tea created & given to me by the wonderful mtchyg.

It steeps up the COOLEST BLOOD COLOR:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BLj7bhQlomk/

The primary flavor is hibiscus (like cranberry, slightly tart). Hibiscus is my new favorite thing, so I might be biased here in liking it, and this tea. There also a few apple and citrus notes, and a deeper note that’s probably the pu erh or cocoa nibs.

There’s a lot going on, but it’s very rich, dark, and complicated, just like vampires would be.

You live a long time, you get skeletons in those closets. If you’re eating people, some of those skeletons are probably literal.

Can you imagine living forever? Every single embarrassing or shameful thing I’ve ever done keeps me up at night NOW, and I’m only 32. Imagine being, like, 500 years old. You’d have hundreds of instances of betrayals and slights and backhanded compliments and mistakes and getting your period in your khakis. HUNDREDS.

That time I walked into a telephone pole waving at a cute boy? If I were 500, I’d probably have done that at LEAST 4 more times.

Flavors: Citrus, Cranberry, Hibiscus, Sweet, Tart

mtchyg

I’m like that in over thinking. But, I think if you were a vampire, after the first century or two you would just kinda be like, “Screw it. Either they’ll be dead soon or I’ll drink their blood.” Ya know? Like, a bit hardened to caring what other people think.

Rosehips

Do we think vampires still get their periods? I would hope, if I achieve immortality, that I won’t have to deal with that for the rest of eternity….

Super Starling!

Mitch — I like to think that being a vampire would harden me up a little. I’d stop being a teddy bear with baggies of my teardrops as my padding. But oh god, I am SO SENSITIVE. I don’t even think it’s been 24 hours since the last time I cried. I cry because I’m sad. I cry because I’m angry. I cry because I’m happy. I cry because I’m watching something nostalgic. The other day I almost wept because I MISSED RAISINS. You cannot fathom how preposterous I am. Times hundreds of years? Would that make it better, or worse? Also, if I lived forever, would I be like one of those old people who talks about the good old days? Would I get stuck? Would I be 715 years old and saying crap like “The best band of all time was TLC back before Lisa Lefteye Lopez died”?
Rosehips — I guess that depends on what Becoming A Vampire does to the human body. In most (if not all?) versions of vampirism I’ve ever seen, a vampire can’t get pregnant. You’d think whatever shut down pregnancy probably also would shut down the whole system. I hope so. Right now I’m savagely looking forward to menopause’s sweet, sweet relief. It’s, like, 20 years away.

mtchyg

Haha points taken.

Rasseru

You would have the best puerh collection though

mtchyg

This is true. Especially if you were the type of vampire that could enchant people through a stare. “I vant to drink your puerh.”

Super Starling!

I would live so long I could ferment my own puerh. Oooh.

My wonderful tea friend mtchyg made this to drink at his book club meeting for the book Furiously Happy by the Bloggess, Jenny Lawson. It has a strong woodsy rooibos base, but it’s brightened up by notes of vanilla and pineapple.

THERE ARE ALSO SPRINKLES.

THERE
ARE
ALSO
SPRINKLES

This decaf tea is a really cute way to wrap up a day. No matter how tedious your day was, when you come home to a decaf white tea/rooibos WITH SPRINKLES, my GOSH, SPRINKLES, that tastes like a CUPCAKE, you’ll be okay.

I just wish I had a really good book to sink into with this. Alas, I’m in the middle of something that’s just okay at the moment. I’m looking forward to finishing that book out and trying out the new Jonathan Safran Foer novel. Mmmm.

mtchyg

Haha the sprinkles were KEY in capturing the feel of Furiously Happy. This was actually a favorite during book club. I had a feeling with the fruit/dessert notes and sprinkles would be to your liking.

Super Starling!

I truly am a simple person.

Kind of generic, black tea and cinnamon. Not bad to sip mindlessly but not a reorder.

This is a really weird flavor. Nutty, bright, bold, sweet. Something about the aftertaste reminds me of icing on high-end wedding cakes.
Usually I don’t understand how these flavors correspond to their characters, but this one IS CHEWBACCA.
It’s BIG. It’s sweet. It’s fun. It’s brown in color.
And, like an alien race, it’s really bizarre.
I like it, but I don’t quite know what to do with it. I’m not sure where this brew fits into my life. It honestly doesn’t taste quite like any tea I’ve ever had. This is such a peculiar blend. I think it’s closest to a chai because it has some cinnamon/spice in it.
I really want to find someone else who drinks tea, shove it in their face, and be like “WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO MAKE OF THIS THING?! I THINK I LIKE IT. DO YOU? IS THIS REAL LIFE?”
I need an adult. Or the Force.

Flavors: Chocolate, Cinnamon, Nuts

Mookit

Haha, loved your description!

I oversteeped this and it tastes like a dirty orange-flavored cigarette. Blech

Thank you Cavocorax for sharing though. You never know unless you try.

I have had this one for a while thanks to the generosity of Cavocorax but I tend to not reach for it given its not really ingredients I look for in a tea (i’m looking at you, mate). However, today I got home early and decided to give it a try. I brewed it up hot and then iced it and then got distracted by homework and making a soup so I am only getting to it now.

My first impression is smoke. Lots of smoke. Smoke and Earth. Then a bit of orange sweetness creeps in but it’s subtle and hidden among a mess of spices and stronger, harsher flavors. I guess in that sense it is true to Sherlock Holmes and his brash attitude but as far as tea goes, this one just isn’t for me.

Thank you Cavocorax for the share though.

Sipdown.

I liked this one a lot. Unfortunately, it just tasted like plain green tea to me, maybe a little sweeter than an unflavored green tea but the flavors weren’t actually noticeable. In any case, it was nice to sip at work and I might consider ordering more.
