807 Tasting Notes
Backlogging – last night I had two cups of this. It was my second time steeping this tea.
For me, what works best is using two tea bags and steeping 4 minutes.
It was so much better than last time where I rated it a very low 27.
I am raising my rating now because I did enjoy it quite more with two bags.
I am however not raising it much because I had to use two bags.
Maybe it is me, I admit when I have a flavored tea I want a punch in the face flavor. Otherwise I prefer a pure tea.
Regardless my rating is going up.
Preparation
I am not going to rate this until I give it another try – maybe with some sweetener but I am not loving it. Sorry Frank so far all of your other blend have been SO SO good! This one – I’m not really getting the maple or the bacon. Decent black tea base with some smokiness, but thats about it. Will try again another time.
Preparation
Stephanie B sent me a sample of this tea. Thank you Stephanie!
After looking over all the other tea logs, temp and steep times I decided (actually my hubby did) to steep for 3 minutes at 180
Because it seems steeping temps and times were all over the place as were the reviews we did a little calculating and came up with this average.
This smells amazing both dry and steeped.
It has a very familiar slightly sour cherry smell that I can’t place but I know I have smelled this somewhere before!
From my childhood perhaps – a cherry medicine, a candy, not sure.
There is also this interesting aroma of baby power essence in the background if you just let your senses go past the initial cherry aroma.
There is a definitive floral flavor as well.
I find that the ingredients compliment each other quite well actually.
Neither seems to over power the other.
The cherry is present although slightly sour but not bitter.
Refreshing with no lingering after taste or astringency.
Immediate after taste is a bit of tartness but only slight, with a light lilting floral note dancing on the mid section of the tongue.
This is a unique and enjoyable cup.
Thank you Stephanie B!
I would purchase this in the future.
Preparation
Very nice! Surprised actually that it was not just a bland black tea. It had depth. Honestly – I gulped it down lol I need to make more and do a better tasting note but yeah I am really happy to have this and a TON of it in my stash! The box she sent me has 160 bags in it! Well 159 now though :)
Preparation
I just received a GIANT box of these tea bags in the mail from a dear friend from Manchester! She also sent me some Twinings Earl Grey. I can’t wait to try this especially after reading the reviews! I had felt a little bit like backtracking since I just started my loose leaf journey but I am seeing now from reading other people’s tea logs that it is a wonderful bagged tea! They DO exist! :) It will be nice to have some excellent tea bags for those mornings when I am too sleepy to mess with the tea pot – which for me is every morning! :)
Having this iced right now – my daughter is on her second glass for the day. We cold infused it in the fridge over night and just WOW! Its quite different cold. It tastes so much like trix cereal. There is another familiar flavor I am getting as well. You know nestle quick strawberry milk mix? It tastes like that! The creamy flavor of this tea with the strawberry fruit flavor reminds me of childhood having my strawberry milk. :)
Fun times. Loving this iced!
I had a sample of this. Its really good. Smells really deep, very much like molasses.
Its rich, complex, a little smoky and woodsy.
I could see this being a replacement for that morning cup of coffee.
Added some milk (just a little) and a tiny bit of sugar in the raw and it does not seem to drown out the rich flavors at all and does enhance them.
I am surprised – this is one of my favorites from Golden Moon so far.
I could see reordering this one.
I so wish that their sample packs had enough for two brews.
I will see how this does on the re-steep and if it brews well I will add it to my shopping list.
Preparation
Got this today with my catalogue – I fear I have over steeped this as I got distracted by a cold tea I had infused last night – was straining it. Anyway .. here we go … I can already smell that it may be a bit bitter – and now I don’t know if it is due to my over steeping or if it is in fact just bitter. I will assume that it is my fault.
Through the bitterness I smell something else … what is that familiar smell? Nutty? Woodsy? Could that be the mango? More like mango PEEL perhaps.
Tastes just like it smells. You know even though I know I over steeped – it really is not bitter. That is good!
Good black tea base – not complex or anything but a straight up black tea.
Clean and crisp – no astringency – nice.
I like it – I don’t LOVE it but not complaining.
This is one I would order if out at Panera or wherever or would happily drink at a friends, but as for a purchase I don’t think so. When I drink a flavored tea I want a bit more flavor than this offers.
I do appreciate that unusual smell / taste though.
Wish I had one more tea bag of it.
Preparation
WOAH .. this one packs a PUNCH! Okay so it says just a “touch” of cayenne pepper but ummm it seemed like a lot to me and I do love cayenne. Don’t get me wrong however, it was not TOO much – just more than I expected. I did brew this for the full 5 minutes a chai typically calls for – but I would suggest 3 to 4 minutes and that is what I will do next time. It was very strong in flavor all the way around and I do appreciate a strong flavor but it was just a bit too much. Now I did add milk and some sugar and it was wonderful – the way you would get a chai if you went out but far far better of course! :)
The smell in the bag is amazing – sweet, spicy, nutty, yummm and the brew smells the same. This is one to be reckoned with and I see why they put it under “man teas” lol but this gal loves it! Not for the weak. This is one I will have to be in the mood for but then again I am often in the mood for a chai and this is a GREAT chai!
Preparation
Oh man. I have GOT to pick this up for my roommate! She’s a cayenne addict, and loves chai. Yet another reason for me to make a 52teas order (it’s from there, right?)
Its from their sister site – but yes same company :)
LOL if she is a cayenne addict she is going to LOVE LOVE LOVE this!
Oh man, I’ve now compiled a $90 order of teas I want from 52teas! Ack! But I’ll hold out and wait until my sample box from LiberTEAS arrives in case she sends me a sample of one of them.
Hahaha, at $9 a pop the closest I could get would be $54. But I’d really prefer to sample most of the teas first before committing to 1-2oz. We’ll see! March tea budget is already WAY blown through, and I’m awaiting tea in some form from 6 different people/companies right now :D
Woo hooo – its addicting isn’t it! I am dying to order from two places right now but I need to save what little money I have left for BILLS and FOOD lol.
Yes, I’m in a tricky situation of being a student on a scholarship who gets paid (diddly squat) in a lump sum every 4 months. Yes…. EVERY FOUR MONTHS. It’s terrible. So right now I’m doing alright, but talk to me again in mid-April :|
Apparently we are thinking alike tonight. I just had the same thing a few minutes ago.
Actually your log made me remember to backlog mine lol
:)
Thank you for that :)
