13 Tasting Notes
Not really a fan. Smells delicious dry, and brewed. Brewed up, it has the odd stevia-like taste to it that I do NOT like. If I hadn’t read the ingredients, I would swear there was stevia in it. Somewhat similar to Blueberry Jam, but not as sweet and more artificial-y tasting. Not going to order it again.
Preparation
If you like mint tea, or white chocolate, this is the tea for you. It’s very minty (which I oddly liked) and has the slight hint of white chocolate (also, oddly, I liked; I usually dislike white chocolate). It’s creamy and minty and delicious without being overly sweet or overly strong. Good tea for a day of bad weather curled up with a book.
It’s a tea ball (SHOCKING!!!). It does what it needs to do. I find that the reusable cup style infuser works a lot better (less mess).
Gave it a 75; it does what it needs to do and it’s well made, but it can be a bit fussy to get tea in without a mess.
It’s got a…..unique flavor that I’m not really a fan of (at least not served hot). Can’t quite explain it; very fruity but yet not. Smells fantastic however the taste just wasn’t there for me.
Might make a good iced tea w/some sweetener and lemon.Love it! I often use it to hold extra hot water (since I take a travel mug with already brewed tea), and make tea at work. Great size, perfect for one good sized mug of tea. Love the top handle, everything screws on tight, it doesn’t leak (thank goodness!). Great for a trip out and about, or to take along with your lunch.
The only downfall is it’s not dishwasher safe.
Pluses – Great size, keeps tea HOT. Comfortable to hold onto. The part that covers the sipping hole snaps on nice and tight. I can leave the press part out and just use it as a perfect sized mug (since I prefer my tea somewhat lukewarm, this is perfect for me!). I also love the silicone grip. Looks nice, very durable, holds the perfect amount of tea for me.
Negatives – The lid/press is in one piece (cannot remove the press portion) and doesn’t screw on tight unless you are VERY careful with it. It’ll seem like it’s tight but then when you touch it again, it’s spun loose (like it didn’t lock in) and you have to tighten it again; sometimes it will lock on, sometimes it won’t. I’ve almost burned myself twice from it coming loose/popping off.
I’d say if you want hot tea, and being able to drink right from the container isn’t a big deal, look at the Tea Canteen instead.
I hope this was just a faulty mug. I wrote to DAVIDsTEA about this one, and they’re sending me a replacement. I’ll update my review when I test out the replacement.
((EDIT))
Kristina (who is fantastic!) at David’s customer service team sent me a brand new mug, and the lid goes on tight! I can now drink hot tea without even a drop spilling. First one definitely a fluke. Would buy another one if I ever needed.
Before I brewed it up, I was skeptical. Dry, it looks like a bunch of dried up fruit, and smells really nutty. Brewed it up, added some white sugar, and to my shock & surprise, IT IS DELICIOUS. A huge plus? I can use far less sugar than usual and it still tastes fantastic. I’m going to try it with some cream later on…I think that would work really well.
If you’re a fan of apple pie, or apple & cinnamon oatmeal, this is definitely the tea for you!Preparation
It smells delicious. Dry tea reminds me of cut grass for some reason (I don’t know either!). Once it’s brewed up, I found the taste to be kind of metallic, to be honest. The smell was SO nice, but even after adding sweetener, I was still meh.
