drank Kiwi's Big Adventure by DAVIDsTEA

The name of this tea is so fun!

This one smells great dry and steeped – more the apple and lemon than the kiwi. I’m not finding the taste as potent as the smell. I’ll have to try steeping it longer next time to see if I can get more of a flavour. I’d also like to try it as an iced tea since these fruity ones seem to scream summer :) It’s certainly unique if nothing else!

I’ll give this one a rating once I’ve tried some variations.

Update: I’ve tried this one hot and it didn’t wow me. I’ve been cold brewing it since yesterday morning before work (oops I meant to try it last night haha).

I can’t decide if I’m enjoying it more or not. It’s a fascinating taste thought I’m not quite sure it’s a kiwi taste. I probably left it too long with the leaves.

This one I got as a sample with one of my many (too many – especially considering I have a local store ah) recent online orders from DavidsTea. It smells wonderful – all minty and chocolately. Yum!

Yep everything they say is true. This one’s pretty delicious. I can taste the mint, of course, and the chocolate and even a hint of vanilla. I may steep it a bit longer next time around but overall a nice smooth finish for this one.

drank Luscious Watermelon by DAVIDsTEA

Taste of summer is right.

Just re-stocked this in my cupboard and made myself a cup in celebration of my favourite cans now full of tea once again! I can taste the honeydew and watermelon here for sure. Not too sure about the carrot and apple but by the looks of this tea I’m sure they must be in there somewhere :)
This tea is delicious hot or cold and I honestly don’t know which I prefer – hot in the winter (about -25 here at the moment) and cold in the summer. This one’s been a part of my permanent collection since I discovered it and I definitely recommend it!

Hope everyone had a great holiday :)

drank Glitter & Gold by DAVIDsTEA

I love this tea – actually the first one I ever purchased from DavidsTea. The scent reminds me of Christmas cookies and really, who doesn’t like glittery tea? I’m not sure I taste the orange peel but definitely the vanilla, cinnamon, and clove (there’s something else underlying but I can’t quite put my finger on it – maybe it is the orange peel?). A nice creamy black tea overall.

I usually drink this one black, perhaps one day I’ll try a drop of milk, but for the time being why mess with a good thing?

drank Earl Grey by DAVIDsTEA

Tonight I’m having my standard cup of English Breakfast (I should really try something new but I finished my exams today and I’m in full relaxation mode, and relaxation mode means “don’t fix what ain’t broke”). However I did discover a recipe for Earl Grey Tea cookies!

I just took one batch out of the oven and they’re tasty. And the best part is they go perfectly with tea! The Davids Earl Grey adds some seriously delicious flavour.

If anyone wants to try out the recipe it’s here: http://www.shutterbean.com/2009/earl-grey-tea-cookies/

I’m newly obsessed with anything Earl Grey, so those cookies sound delicious!

drank Fireside S'mores Tea by Teaopia

Just a small cuppa before my last exam. The smell is amazing – like summertime camping.
It’s definitely creamy and delicious – I’m not tasting too much chocolate but definitely the marshmallow. I only steeped it for 3 minutes, perhaps next time I’ll try a little longer.

drank Fantasy Island by DAVIDsTEA
1379 tasting notes

Well today I made a quick trip to DavidsTea (even though I told myself I had to study and couldn’t go until I was finished writing exams). They didn’t have a lot of what I was looking for today but they had me smell Fantasy Island, which I could’ve swore I already had in my cupboard. Regardless I picked up a small package of it. Of course I just went to brew some up – low and behold, there is another package in my cupboard!

It’s just steeping away now. Hmm, halfway through this mug I’m not completely sold. It smells so great dry and pretty good steeped but…the taste doesn’t match the smell. Every time I take a sip the smell hits my nose first and I feel like I’m on a tropical island, but once it hits my mouth – not so much. It seems a little lacking in flavour. I will have to try some cold before I give this one a rating.

Update: Yesterday I tried Fantasy Island and wasn’t over the moon about it. I’m just boiling the kettle now, and I’ll steep it a little longer (I tried 4 minutes yesterday) to try it as an iced tea. I’ll put an update once it’s nice and cold!

Update: Well I much prefer it as a cold/iced tea. Still more to the smell than the taste but a definite improvement over yesterday’s hot version!

drank Santa's Secret by DAVIDsTEA

I picked up 30g of this one last week at DavidsTea. Just boiling the kettle now. It smells pretty great dry – minty yet almost creamy.

And steeping (4 minutes). Already on my second cup of tea and it’s not even 8am – joy.

Usually I reserve minty teas (especially peppermint alone) for upset stomachs but perhaps this one will put me in the Christmas spirit :)

Update: Pretty good, seemed to be more so than anything else, a peppermint tea. I added a drop of milk when I had about half a mug left which was still pretty good. DavidsTea says it’s energizing and I’ll give it that. Perhaps not in my permanent collection but for someone who likes peppermint definitely a must-try.

drank English Breakfast by DAVIDsTEA

This has been my tea of choice the last few weeks (actually it’s been my tea of choice forever, but much more so in the past few weeks). It’s exam time and every morning I’m up before the crack of dawn at my computer. I love black tea and this one seems classic to me. A great morning tea (although I’ve been drinking it all day lately), and a wonderful start to the day. Once my exams are over later this week I’ll be off to DavidsTea to refill my stash.

Profile

Bio

I love black tea and this is usually what’s in my mug. I’m also happy to enjoy a cup of green or red rooibos, herbals, oolongs (unroasted/green and red preferable to roasted), whites, and subtly flavoured greens.

Likes:
Raspberry, strawberry, peach, rhubarb, passionfruit, blackcurrant, redcurrant, fig, and most fruits in general, maple, creaminess, hay, biscuit, lavender, and cacao/dark chocolate.

I enjoy bergamot when paired with flavours that mellow it (Camellia Sinensis Earl Grey Cream is one of my favourites).

Dislikes:
Any smokiness at all, stevia, too much blackberry leaf, rose, jasmine, ginger (except in chai), cinnamon-heavy teas, anything cloying or fake/candy-like.

I’m vegan with an allergy to potatoes, so I avoid any animal products in tea, along with sprinkles as these often have potato starch (I usually just pick them out of blends).
