2013 YS Wu Liang Ye Sheng Raw 400g
Entirely “ye sheng” varietal tea from the highest reaches of the Wu Liang mountains. Growing above 2000 feet these wild tea bushes range from 50 to 200 years old. We had originally asked for 100 kilograms of this wonderful tea but it’s so rare and due to dry weather, we were only able to get 60 kilograms!

Rich thick flavor, without much bitterness. This is the most delicate wild tree purple teas I have ever tasted! Nice comfortable cha qi with no edge. Can be infused many times.

Pressed by stone press and wrapped in hand-made paper from Xishuangbanna!

400 grams per cake (7 cakes per bamboo leaf tong)

Shut the door!!!! Another sample gift from “PUG”. Mellow, straw, pertol, honey flavors a touch of appropriate bitterness and a slam dunk sheng. The steeps were 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75, 90, 120, 150, 180, 240. This made for a thicker and more flavorful brew but it certainly did not disuade. Could easily drink this every day. I enjoyed the cha qi, as it was; easy on, easy off, no jarring or jitters.

Thanks so much boychik for the sample! <3 <3 <3

This is extremely flavorful sheng! So fruity and sweet and tangy. Creamy mouthfeel, silky liquor, very enchanting. Work has been crappy so it was nice to get a nice sheng buzz going, too!

boychik

i like this one too ;)

It’s official. I love me some sheng.

Received as a sample and wishing I now had a cake in my hands.

Dry and wet leaves smell really floral and smoky. Flavor wise, 98% of the smoke goes away. Instead you get this gorgeous honeydew melon fruitiness. I’m on infusion 4 and it’s gotten sweeter with each.

Tiny, tiny, tiny bit of bitterness/tanin. That usual “camphor” that comes through. Floral notes. Buttery smoothness. Enchanting aroma. All good here.

Just a wonderful sheng.

One of the best purple buds out there for sure, Never bitter like some others.
Oh and I guess it’s a sheng thing now huh! LOL!

weegeebee1

LOL. So it is buds only? That’s a killer for my caffeine intake. But I guess I can cheat here and there. It’s this one, right?

That’s the one! I am contemplating an order from them with EMS, Anyone want to get in and pool an order?

weegeebee1

Is it better to order from China store or US? I might get that Menghai 7592 cake that I like as well.

mrmopar

The US store much faster for sure. You would probably have your order from that site quicker than an EMS shipping from the China site. Just watch the site it can be dangerous to you wallet!

weegeebee1

LOL. I know. I already figured out I have more tea than I could drink in a year. But I rationalize by saying “this is Puer. It’ll age and get even better”

I agree with the vendor description on this. It is the most “delicate” purple bud tea I have tried. they are mostly very bitter and harsh to drink even with aging.
This tea brews nicely aromatic with a buttery asparagus and slightly wet hay aroma. It is floral and fruity with just the slightest hint of smoke( I actually had a hard time finding this flavor). It has a touch of sweet on the back end and is a very drinkable young tea.
I went through two separate days trying this to be able to give a decent review of it.
It is nice , sweet and fruity florally tasting and a very nice with the butter hints coming in after the second steep. very nice warm and relaxing to drink.
brewing parameters were 12 grams loose tea into a 8 oz. yixing. Short steeps to bring the flavor out nicely.
I actually pushed this one hard with an extended steep to see if it became bitter. It ended up being only slightly bitter on extended steeps.
Nice tea simply said.
