28 Tasting Notes
REALLY odd. I’ve had this tea before and don’t remember it being special. But now my face is melting…in a good way :) Perhaps the qi matured in the last year ? Or it’s one of those anomalies. Def have to try this again later. I got this because I really enjoy the 2012 mu shu cha for its super relaxing vibes. But this is like “am I stoned” ? I only got this Autumn version because it was such a cheap version of the 2012.
Also has a nice atringency, bitterness and fruity rotation going on. Strong throat and mouth numbing. White pepper-y cooling. Jeez I’m only on 6th steep. I love Scott and YS

I think this is the sheng I’ve drank the most and yet I haven’t commented on it. It smells amazing, like the jungle/bush in summertime. There’s a lovely floral note with sweetness/honey underneath. Early steepings are sweet and vegetal….heavily of snow peas with a citrus aftertaste. As you push the tea in later steepings the vegetal becomes more bitter (not at all in a bad way) and the citrus aftertaste is more pronounced, strongly lemon-y.
Qi: Good energy, decent amount of relaxation. A good tea to motivate to do intellectual tasks.
Flavors: Floral, Lemon, Peas, Vegetal
Preparation
Just gorgeous. Dry leaf smells of fruit and summertime :) Wet leaf is peachy. Beautifully processed…no smokiness.
Lovely relaxing chi. Aftertaste of lemons and peach…mostly lemon…lasts FOREVER. Also a lovely pea vegetal note. Bitterness is perfect and complements it well. I’ve never bought a whole cake but this one seems very worthy.
Flavors: Lemon, Peach, Peas
Preparation
I liked everything about this tea. First time drinking a dragon ball and I loved watching the little ball expand over many steepings to fill the gaiwan. Amazing floral smell both dry and wet. Tasty. Unfortunately can’t remember much more of the flavor notes…was days ago.
Go easy on the heavy steeps…I mostly drink raw puer and this can get cloyingly astringent/bitter if pushed too hard. Shared this with my friend and we both commented on the lovely qi. We both had had a terrible night of sleep but felt fantastic and energized after it. Though that might have been to do with our usual session being 3G and this having 8G :) Really like the story about this tea from Scott on the website.
Preparation
On to my third batch of this. Thought I’d give Dante another try to see if I could get the same tea high as the first batch. Success ! Maybe not as relaxing, definitely more energy though. Perhaps a little psychoactive. Basically, cha qi that trumps everything I’ve had except for first Dante. Which says a lot since I’ve had a lot of puer since my first Dante. Ordered a ton more…won’t be running out of this for years :)
Preparation
My first jade oolong. Very unique flavors and nice relaxing, happy qi.
I love smelling the wet leaf after a quick rinse. There’s the usual floral notes but with something behind that I can’t pin down, maybe caramel or nougat ? Really sweet on the first 3 steeps (but not sickly sweet), a little floral and then watermelon. Very unique.
Also loved being able to read all about the processing in the 3 part post on the website !
Flavors: Floral, Melon
Preparation
Pretty amazing tea. If you are new to sheng puer (like me) and want to try what 15 years of storage can do to the taste of sheng I can’t think of a better starting example.
Goes forever (15-20 steeps). Peach (maybe plum as others have noted) aftertaste but the really interesting one is that of baking spices…maybe cinnamon and nutmeg. There is a lot of cooling that persists even after 10-15 steeps. Great mouth feel.
Qi was relaxing with decent energy but nothing amazing. It’s really about the taste, cooling and texture. I’ve never really had anything else like it.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Spices, Stonefruit
Gotta love Scott’s face-melting teas! The 2014 Mangfei does that for me.
Oh yeah ? Sounds like another one to add to my next order. Thanks ! Black Friday order is gonna hurt the ol wallet
The 2014 Mangfei has been overlooked. I suppose Mangfei is just too far from Yiwu to matter to most folks here. I’m thinking of getting plane tickets on Black Friday when the clock strikes midnight!
