From Yunnan Sourcing

Lao Huang Di is an area west of Long Tang village that has many wild tea trees. The trees range from 50-200 years in age and are completely feral.

Thick and golden tea soup with a nice balanced taste. Cha Qi is very pleasant, mouth feel is cooling with a long-lasting sweetness.

357 Grams per cake (7 cakes per bamboo leaf tong)

50 Kilograms in total pressed

Brewed this up with no rinse. It is floral and woody, with a touch of fruit, and a smooth but present bitterness that is not unwelcome. I don’t know, maybe elderflowers? Anyways, this raw pu-erh is one I could see myself revisiting occasionally. Has a greener profile like I am looking for, and don’t have to age it a bunch to make it more interesting.

I think this might be my favorite of the new bunch of teas I purchased. Also has an amaretto liqueur quality to it, with lovely autumn leafy notes emerging especially in the third steep.
