From white2tea

Our classic Waffles blend. A shou Puer tea with a sweet, easily approachable character, pressed into a convenient waffle pattern that can be broken apart without the use of a tea needle. An excellent everyday ripe Puer tea, with a soft sweetness and a smooth warming body. A well balanced ripe Puer tea for beginners or veteran drinkers alike.

Each cake is 200 grams of tea.

Cake batter is a top 3 ice cream flavor for me. This is that flavor in tea form and I love it. This finding is strange to me, as I wouldn’t consider that flavor to be a fermented-type flavor. But hey, I won’t complain :).

Mouthfeel is okay, but slightly disappointing. Nowhere near as flat as brown sugar, but not as full or interesting as a couple of shengs I’ve had either. Somewhat creamy, but not terribly so. Longevity is 12+ infusions.

This tea is certainly appropriately priced and one of W2T’s cheapest. Price and flavor make it tempting. So the question is ultimately: to cake or not to cake? I’ll probably end up getting a cake, tbh. Nothing bad about the mouthfeel, it’s just not a highlight. And the flavor is great.

This is a solid Ripe PuErh, and definitely worth the price tag. Very Earthy, with a gorgeous liquor.

Very easy to break the cake, in fact no pick is needed. I brewed this Gong Fu style. The first infusion was of barley tone. The liquor changed to an amber on the second infusion, and than a lovely burgundy on 3+.

I can definitely see this becoming my everyday Ripe PuErh to start off each morning. It left me calm and relaxed, yet energized.

Gongfu from this weekend!

Enjoying a lazy late morning tea session of 2022 Waffles shou in my smallest gaiwan! This gaiwan juuuussstt barely clocks in at a teeny tiny capacity of 50ml and is the perfect size for a single square of this deliciously sweet and smooth pu’erh! With rich notes of brown sugar, medjool dates, petrichor, and rain soaked soil this is a really easy going tea that feels like it fits right in alongside sleeping in before slowly getting the weekend started by listening to good music in warm, cozy PJs…
