From white2tea

The return of our lauded bud heavy, shade dried (aka yue guang bai) Yunnan white tea.

A bright and floral fresh white tea with a supple sweetness and creamy, heavy body. Delicious tea at a great price.

Cakes are pressed into a tight waffle shape that can be easily broken apart without a pick or tea needle.

Each cake is 200g.

I get 25 grams of this, hearing it’s super hard to open and hard to steep.
I took the “dust” in the pouch, it was around 3 grams. I took one piece and I had 3 more grams. Total, roughly 6 grams. I tried to loosen the piece and well, it worked well. It was quite easy to crumble and I had no issue with it.

So, 6 grams used; gong-fu method with 125 ml gaiwan. First bubbles temperature. Two rinses, steeps of various lenghts, just eyeballed them.

I am surprised how viscous this tea is, and it delivers such easydrinking, sweet tea. Very distinctly “white tea” qualities, hay, autumn leaf pile, honey-ish note, oats, a bright and sunny meadows.
The mouthfeel is very long and keeps giving comfort and relax the body. I woke up quite tense and I have finished up the tea relaxed, calm and day-dreaming.

Sipdown! (8 | 163)

Trying to finish off the teas from my white2tea order, as now I have a bunch of Bitterleaf samples staring at me lol…

This one is a lovely, easy-drinking white tea that’s thick and creamy with a syrupy honey-dried fruit sweetness to it. The foundation is oats and hay – not the musty kind mind you, this hay is sweet and warmed by the sun. A bit of a crisp autumn leafy note as well, which pairs nicely with the dried fruit. Maybe a touch of maple syrup as well?

Certainly a nice tea. Because I’m a heathen who always steeps Western-style these days, I usually break apart the chonks of compressed tea to allow it to steep more quickly. That was a bit difficult with this one, the (admittedly adorable) waffley texture sort of seals each little square into a solid chonk and I had a hard time trying to loosen them. Anyway, enjoyed sipping this one and would sip again!
