I’m pretty sure I drank some of this before, but didn’t log it… oh well. Anyhow, giving it a shot tonight as I was going through my Verdant blends (and realizing I hadn’t added any of them to my cupboard count. Ouch.) The aroma is very much yabao – that piney, wintry sort of smell. There’s maybe a hint of spice peeking out too, but it’s primarily just yabao. The flavour does deviate a bit – piney yabao with some heat and spice in the forefront (I feel like I’m tasting ginger, coriander?), then a lingering creamy aftertaste which is where I’m finding the “snickerdoodle” spices are more apparent. It’s actually not too bad of a blend, although I personally don’t think that the spices are strong enough to mesh perfectly with the distinctive flavour of the yabao. This could very easily be age though, especially since my half is has been in a plastic baggie (albeit a reasonably thick one) for nearly a year.

Overall, since I like yabao, and the spices included in this blend are to my liking, I am finding this to be a winner for me. Probably wouldn’t pick up more as it’s just not a tea I think I’d find myself wanting too often (I crave yabao maybe a couple times a year when it’s on my mind), but it won’t be a problem to finish off the rest I have, especially since we’re back in the right season again :D

I found the spices didn’t mesh well with the yabao, and ended up giving mine away. I prefer the yabao plain or with flowers. :)

HHTTB Round 3

I’m pretty sure I told my fiance this tasted vaguely like pool water. I am not a fan of this. It smelled weird and just did not taste enjoyable at all.

While I appreciate OMGsrsly sending me a sample of this tea with the intriguing name, I kind of had an idea of what to expect…that is, likely nothing good.

Definitely not a snicker doodle tea.

Tastes like ginger and things that grow in the ground. Not in a good way.

I enjoy snicker doodles as far as cookies go.
Not so much, this.

Thanks anyway…I know I was warned! :)

LOL. Yeah, that’s about what it tastes like. I also get a lot of pine needles from it, but not the tasty new ones… the sappy green ones that stick everywhere.

ohfancythat

Yes, I’m getting the pine now too. I think I’m done though, lol.

I don’t do well with very “earthy” tasting teas!

From The Here’s Hoping Teabox 3.

I was expecting not to like this, but in the end I slot this one as okay. I haven’t been enjoying Verdant’s yabao, but I thought the concept of this tea too interesting to pass up. I went light on the dry leaf here.

Pretty fun tasting – spruce, honey, ginger, light cinnamon. A very warm tea. Very wild, untamed forest kinda feels to it. It’s about as natural as you are gonna get to a snickerdoodle tea without adding any flavoring oils. But yeah, it’s not like actual snickerdoodle tea – it’s got that lightness of a snickerdoodle but not that tartness I associate with cream of tartar use in the cookie. Maybe if I made a snickerdoodle cookie while camping..
I’m still not digging the yabao, but glad to of tried this one. thanx HHTB!

Sil shared this, & the rest of the Verdant Blends club teas with me (& about 100 adagio fandom blends, but we’re not talking about those right now). I divided all of the Verdant Blends in half, & shared them with Dag.

So here’s the first one. I haven’t had a snickerdoodle cookie in about 20 years, so I can’t really say if it comes close. Plain it is just soso, add a little maple & it isn’t bad.
I steeped it for 3 or 4 minutes. I’m not really sure how long, as I forgot to set the timer.
