There aren’t a lot of caffeine free teas I can turn to before bed. This is one of them. Unfortunately, it smells a lot better than it tastes.

I was able to get the color of the water to change at least…5 minutes after boiling water. The smell of the tea is a pleasant hot apple cider smell, sugary sweet and tangy with a touch of cinnamon and clove. It’s like hot apple pie.

But then when I take a sip, I get an immediate hit of apple and cinnamon, then a fading to something a little on the sour and unpleasant side. It’s lacking depth, or body, or something. I know! Tea! It’s lacking tea!

But in all seriousness, it would be rated much higher if that sour note could be eliminated. I don’t think the artificial flavoring would lend well to something like honey, either. Maybe I’ll try sugar next time.

I have a cheap apple cider than I enjoy, but I splurged on this because it has more spices in it, and you can’t go wrong with that. It wasn’t as strong as I’d have liked it, but it was still yummy! I think a strong apple flavor is what it was really missing, like the spices gave a good punch and the apple kind of fell on its face. lol :D

Backlogging from a couple days ago. This smells like apple and spices. I added some sugar to this cup and the smell is more appley when steeped. This tastes lighter then it smells, although I didn’t steep it very long either though. This tastes pretty good. This tastes like apple and clove and abit of ginger and a hint of cinnamon. This tastes good but not a great tea.

It smells nice! Unfortunately, it didn’t taste like much. I guess I should have steeped longer than the 5-7 minutes. Not a fan!

Try steeping it with two bags in 6oz. of water. That’s when it really shines!:]
Or, as funky as it sounds, try steeping it in apple juice..that creates a delicious apple cider!

I received a sample of this with my last Republic of Tea order. It was a nice, basic fall tea. Cinnamon is the strongest flavor, but you can also taste the apple and the orange peel as well. It has a very warm, comforting flavor and aroma and a nice hint of sweetness. However, it really wasn’t anything special and I find it a bit pricey. Probably won’t be purchasing this in the future.

NOTE: If you drink this. USE TWO TEABAGS.

I know that I am drinking this out of season. However, it is a Monday, the world outside my office windows is looking cloudy and angry, and I wanted something comforting.

What is it about Mondays that are just so blaaa?

I used two teabags. If you are going to drink this USE TWO TEABAGS. (Sense a pattern here?) A single teabag is much to week and the flavors are muted and somewhat blechy. The addition of the second teabag is magical! It fixes this tea somehow. Republic of tea should just manufacturer the bag twice as strong!

(WIth the extra bag) this is a sweet tea that does not require any sugar. Its not an AMAZING tea, simple an okay one, but i t certainly hit the spot this afternoon!

Yummy, this is one of my favorite teas on a cold day. Very nice balance and sweet tangy apple and the spices.

I tried this book tonight at book club. When our host pulled out some different teas, I was very excited. I had seen this tea before, but had not tried it. First of all, I put the tea bag in the water to steep and even though I left it in there for quite some time, the water color barely changed. The flavor of this tea matched that of the color of its water, very mild. I guess I just expect more of a deep flavor when a tea is supposed to resemble hot apple cider.

Man. I am at the dregs of my tea drawer and cannot wait for my tea order to arrive tomorrow. In the meantime, I drank this Hot Apple Cider tea that was in the drawer. I’d throw it out but my husband likes it. One teabag steeped for 7 minutes. It tastes like water mixed with a 1/4 apple juice and a little cinnamon. I used to like this and would brew it up and put it in a thermos for ski patrol. I’m guessing that any tea might have tasted good on a really cold day on the mountain. It never tastes as good at home.

There’s actually no tea in it, so it’s more like an infusion of apples and spices. Very tasty, and nice when I want something light before bed. I found it for about half price at Big Y, and I just couldn’t leave it there in good conscience.

P.S. I’ve also discovered that pouring real apple cider over a bag of this tea and heating it up in the microwave produces a very nice single serving of legit hot spiced apple cider without having to mix up an entire pot. A whole pot is great for parties, but not so much when you’re home alone and just want one cup. It may not be exactly the same, but it is a worthy substitute!
