Hibiscus Superflower Tea with Blueberry

Another tea sample from Jaime. I brewed this the same as the Tangerine, 3 bags in 16oz water and poured over 8oz ice. I added a packet of Splenda to sweeten this tea, although I don’t think it needs it, I enjoy my hibiscus teas cold and sweet!

The blueberry is quite distinct at the end of the sip, the first taste is the hibiscus, but the blueberry ending is quite welcome. I could drink this tea pitchers at a time. It tastes just like a handful of sweet, ripe berries, there is almost a creamy undertone to it. I will definitely be buying this next trip to World Market. I received a coupon for 10% off next purchase so I may be buying a few tins of teas there.

Monday has been kinder than I thought it would be after the holiday weekend. Here’s hoping that the trend continues!!

I was feeling the need for blueberries, and this tea hits the spot. It’s actually my least favorite of the hibiscus teas…but it’s still very nice.

ETA: Okay, accidentally dropped a Vanilla Tootsie Roll midgee into this cup. I highly recommend doing this on purpose!

Steep Information:
Amount: 2 teabags
Water: filtered, boiling, ~12 ounces
Steep Time: a little over 5 minutes
Served: Hot

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: sweet berry
Steeped Tea Smell: sweet berry
Flavor: tart berry, then sweet
Body: Full
Aftertaste: apple, berry
Liquor: deep dark red

I am a hibiscus and strong flavor fan, and this fits the bill. I enjoy it for a delicious nighttime tea.

Wow, the scent of this tea after water has been added is of pure, sugary blueberry! I love blueberries, but find that blueberry flavored things can get a little weird if they’re not done correctly. As it steeps, I’m detecting more of the hibiscus.

The color of the tea is like a raspberry, almost blood red. I’m sure it would be beautiful poured over ice! Sipping… Hmm… there are some nice flavors here, but it’s ruined by the stevia. The hibiscus is tart and the blueberry is soft and sweet. There is that lingering aftertaste of stevia that just makes this not too pleasant.

When I opened the packet I got an immediate sweet blueberry note wafting towards me, and thought, this is going to be really good.

I cold brewed it overnight, and added a little rock sugar. The overall flavour was ok. It tasted just like it’s aroma – sweet blueberries, but just a little weak. Perhaps my error by adding to much water.

I can’t give a numerical rating for this, because it was on the weak side, and possibly/probably my fault. I don’t have another packet to try again. I think if it had less water or 2 bags, it would be have just fine.

A friend of mine gave me a sample tea bag of this to try. As soon as I opened the foil the blueberry was prominent. I steeped it for 6 mins and again all I could smell was blueberry. The first sip was an immediate tang which went away as quickly as it hit. Then all blueberry and slightly sweet. No sugar needed here. It reminded me of KoolAid if KoolAid was made with real blueberries. I immediately thought how good it would be over ice. I think of it more as a blueberry tea than a hibiscus tea. So those who don’t like hibiscus would probably like it.

Finished off the last bit of my tin this morning by preparing a pitcher of this to keep in the fridge. Technically not a sipdown, but I’m happy to see this tin leave my collection. It’s certainly not bad by any means, but as the weather has gotten colder, my tastes have changed just a bit and I’m doing my best to keep my stash fresh. I may just buy another tin next summer.

Yay for this tea! I don’t like to add sweeteners to my tea, so I have struggled for a long time with hibiscus teas since they are so tart in nature. This one, however, is splendid with the addition of a bit of stevia leaf in the blend. The blueberry works so beautifully with the hibiscus. Refreshing! It makes me think of Summer!

Steeping this tea currently, and the smell was amazing as soon as I opened the package. Received this in the mail as a sample with their catalog. I will say this is probably one of their stronger smelling teas. All I can smell is blueberries, and it smells amazing! I’ve never had a blueberry tea I really love that tastes or even smells like a blueberry, so I am excited to try this tea.

As it steeps it is turning a beautiful dark purple, and still smelling like blueberries…just not as strong anymore. Only four more minutes of steeping left… :D Can’t wait to try this one. PLEASE DON’T LET ME DOWN RoT!!!

Wow…good tea here! The best blueberry tea I’ve had yet. It has a nice soft blueberry finish to it. I could actually drink this unsweetened. I drink EVERY tea with a tsp of raw honey, so that says a lot. It has a natural sweetness to it, and tastes like you’re eating an actual blueberry.

I could see myself buying this tea the next time I shop at the RoT. Good job guys! I’m a fan.

I’ve made this tea hot and cold and find it tart and delicious. It’s a good warm you up kind of tea on a cold winter night and would go over well for fans of rooibus. Cold brewed, it’s so very appropriate for summer – refreshing and cooling and quite delicious.
