Another free sample courtesy of Teavivre. I loved the smell of the dry leaves, reminded me of sweet strawberry mochi. I brewed the tea with some trepidation expecting this to have an artificial and/or overwhelming fruit flavor like most flavored teas. I’m happy to report that my fears were unfounded. The first steeping was creamy smooth with a gentle strawberry flavor. You actually can taste the base oolong and the strawberry complements it instead of competing with it.

Those that prefer fruity teas might find it underwhelming but for me the flavor profile of this tea was on point. Unfortunately the strawberry flavor is mostly lost after the 1st steeping so all you taste on the 2nd steeping is the oolong itself.

My daughter made Swedish Butter Cake to be served with blueberries and whipped cream, so I asked my best friend to stop by on her way to work. She loves trying new teas so I brought out this sample from my last order with Teavivre.

The description extolled the aroma of the dry leaves and the tea while steeping, which made me think that there wouldn’t be much strawberry flavor or aroma to the tea.

Opening the packet, the aroma is strong, fresh and delicious. Steeping, the strawberry scent is still strong. Happily, the aroma is still strong in the cup as we drink. This is light and refreshing. My friend usually doesn’t drink a great deal of tea at one time and I have to be attentive to her cup as she rarely pours herself another cup but waits for me to refill it. Today she was reaching for the pot saying, “Do you mind?” Of course not! That why we have tea!

Great sample, and likely to be on a future order.

This sample came from Teavivre a while back. I appreciate getting a free sample, so thank you.

This is a very nice green oolong that comes through with floral and buttery notes. I am also finding the strawberry flavor to be a bit weak. It really needs to be steeped Western style to get any strawberry flavor at all. Hardly any strawberry flavor is present in the 2nd steep for me. If you want a really strong flavored strawberry tea this is not the thing. I was expecting something slightly different from this. It’s ok but I prefer the fruit flavored oolong from Naivetea and Lupicia.

What a lovely strawberry oolong! Thanks Sil for sharing, this one has been on my bucket list for awhile.
The oolong is very light and refreshing, pairing excellently with the fresh strawberry. Not really tart, but not too sweet either. One day, methinks this will be in my cupboard! I didn’t get to taste it hot so I’ll have to save the more extensive note for next time

Oooh! I forgot about this one. I can see how I’d totally crave it once things warm up a bit more!

Kaylee 10 years ago

I suspect it would be tasty cold brewed.

Fjellrev, I had my doubts but now I understand! :)

Cavo – Omg yes. In the summer this would be divine

Finished the rest of my sample today, western-style. At 3 minutes, it was incredibly buttery. Yum! Nice light strawberry flavor too. I dunno, I might consider getting some in a future order, but I better stop buying tea for awhile…it’s gotten a little out of hand lately! ;)

I have been drinking this quite a lot and finally I have time (and energy) to review it. Ordered this from black friday sale from Teavivre.
Leaf nuggets are brown/yellow/green coloured their size is pretty even, and they have really strong strawberry smell, bit artificial though.
There was no brewing guide for gongfu so I used classic 25s-35s-45s-55s-etc. and 100C water. Also I got a new gaiwan as christmas present! It some kind of clay but inside is porcelain, it keeps temperature better than my whole porcelain gaiwan.
Tea is bright yellow with green in it. It has vegetal and strawberry aroma, there is that typical oolong tea smell that is you can smell, it’s not overly flavoured which is good. Also you can really taste the green oolong over the strawberry, but that strawberry is still there. You know you’re drinking oolong and not just any strawberry tea. Bit sour and sadly I have to say too that strawberry is quite artificial tasting, it would be a lot better is they would use strawberry oils or something to get that real strawberry flavour. I have to try western way to see how different does it taste. Despite the artificial strawberry, this is not bad I will drink the whole 100g of this, for 7,26e (8,90$) is it worth the money. Also I have to say that strawberry is losing it’s flavour with each steeping, it becomes soft after couple steeping, but I think I have to recommend western way for this, I have to try it myself fist still.

Morning cold brew. It isn’t bad but it isn’t great, but it may be my fault. I think I left the tea bag in for too long (for nearly 24 hours) and now it’s on the bitter side. The upshot is the strawberry is stronger than it was when I made it hot. Maybe next time cold brew it for only eight hours or something. Oolong isn’t as forgiving as fruit tisanes, after all.

I tried this one again following the steeping parameters on the package and liked it so much more than last time! A lovely, natural strawberry flavor layered over a smooth, slightly vegetal oolong base…just delicious! I would definitely consider re-purchasing this one.

From the Cooking TTB.

I think I like this. The berry flavour is intense, bordering on artificial and candy-like. There’s a pleasant green oolong flavour that is under the strawberry on the first steep and then becomes better balanced with subsequent steeps.

In a lot of ways it reminds me of Teavana’s Six Summits oolong, which is one of my all time favourites. I wish the strawberry was a little more subdued, but this is still very enjoyable.

Backlog. I picked some of this up in a joint Teavivre order to see how it compared to Butiki’s version. Sadly, I never did compare the two, but this one’s still available, and Butiki’s is not, so it no longer really matters! I honestly don’t have a great recollection of how this was, except that it was tasty. I don’t think the strawberry was as strong as I would have liked, though. I believe I still have another packet of this to test out (I’ll have to double check that, though). If not, I might throw some more into a future order for a better review!
