Oh, YUM. My thoughtful sister got me a giftcard to Teavana for my birthday. While I wouldn’t shop there on my own dollar (pushy sales clerks, fussy blends, 2 oz. minimums, steep prices), I enjoyed shopping. I bought this earl grey creme and a simple sencha (review to come). I should’ve tried it straight first, but I was too excited to make a tea latte out of it with some steamed milk from my espresso machine. I brewed it up double strength and filled both of our mugs halfway (enough for me and my fiancé, who adores earl grey), added a teaspoon of sugar, and poured some creamy, foamy 2% milk on top. Divine. Before I added the milk, I could smell sweet cream wafting across the counter from the tea, with a little tart edge of bergamot. For me, earl grey equals indulgence. I love to make tea lattes at work out of Tazo’s full leaf earl grey (it’s okay, a little too floral because it has lavender in it) and vanilla. For me, an earl grey has to have elements of sweet and creamy. This one fits the bill!

For the second steep, I brewed 16 oz. to refill both of our mugs with straight tea. The creme smell is more muted, but it still balances out the harshness bergamot can sometimes bring. Drinking bare, I appreciate that the bergamot is not too overpowering. With a spoonful of sugar and a splash of milk, ahh, still delicious. Will earl grey creme again soon.

P.S. My fiancé had the ingenious idea to put some Irish cream in his in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Mmm, I am glad to be marrying this man soon.

I was originally going to drink something different this morning, but after freezing on the walk into work and realizing I had already forgotten to do a million little things, I decided I needed to have my go-to, caffeine-filled earl grey creme again.

Added a bit of sugar today to sweeten things up a bit.

I actually had this yesterday as well as today. I’m loving it. After thinking some more, i’m going to see if I can find an equally good Earl Grey Creme from someone who doesn’t charge as much (Teavana is $4.50 for 2oz).

Adagio is probably going to be my first trial. I’m also wondering what I should get to make steeping easier… I was thinking of getting something like Adagio’s Ingenuitea (http://www.adagio.com/gifts/holiday_ingenuiTEA.html), but it seems too single purpose, so now I am looking at various mugs and teapots. Any Suggestions?

Adagio is good, they’re actually where I first ordered from… Ironically I was just looking at Teavana’s site :) I actually have the personaliTEA and love it: http://www.adagio.com/teaware/personaliTEA_teapot.html it seems they’re out of stock at the moment though :( But you might be able to find something comparable…

When I first purchased this tea, I was a bit hesitant with the word ‘creme’. it smelled heavenly, but i was worried it would have an artificial flavor to it. much to my surprise, they use vanilla in it to give it a creamy note, and my god is it delicious! soft and creamy, with just the right strength from the bergamont and the black tea.excellent for 2nd and 3rd uses well, although the 3rd use tends to be a bit watered down. excellent for making London fog, f there’s any fans out there of that delicious drink :)

There is not much creme in this earl gray creme. The bergamot flavor is very strong with a sharp slightly unpleasant aftertaste. The cream tones it down a bit, but it is still not my favorite. I much prefer the Tippy Earl Gray from Golden Moon which is much smoother even without any cream flavor. Have had this a bunch of times trying to finish it off because I bought 4oz of it. I have so many teas that I enjoy more that I think I’ll look to swap this one since the tasting notes suggest others enjoy it more than I do.

Some days this tea really gets to me. It seems very high in caffeine. Between that and its very floral scent, it goes right to my head. Not a good tea for me first thing in the morning or on an empty stomach!

I just got this from a give away from SoccerMom, and I like it! I don’t like overly floral teas, nor vanilla, but together they seem to work for me. But you’re right, I wouldn’t want it on an empty stomach!

If asked to describe this tea in one word, I’d have to pick “smooth”. Smooth not only in flavor, but in texture, as this brew seems to transform ordinary water into tea-flavored milk. Being that I am a purist when concerning Earl Grey, I tried this tea with a bit of bias, and while I still wouldn’t call it a real Earl, I would go so far as to call it a damn fine tea that is more than worthy of its modest $4 pricetag.

This is a creamy earl grey, just as advertised. It’s tasty but I wasn’t blown away, however, as I was expecting to be considering I know someone who loves this. I keep meaning to order some of New Mexico Tea Company’s Earl Grey Cream, which people seem to love too, because one can never have too much earl grey.

Maybe I’m expecting too much from these extra flavored earl greys.
