From T2

Sweet chocolaty flavours play with hints of tropical coconut on a backdrop of sharp and full-bodied black tea.

It’s the classic chocolate covered slice- that you can sip!

Brew: 1 tsp per 250mls, 2 -3 min at 100°c

Serve: Hot

Tried this one again today, this time with a brown crystal sugar swizzle stick. I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed this one, the couple of times I’d tried it, although I’m not sure whether the extra sugar really adds anything. I thought it might amplify the dessert quality a little, but it really just adds a background sweetness that in the end isn’t particularly noticeable.

It’s good, but I still really want a raspberry version!

I often mix this and their raspberry rush blend to make a raspberry version!

This is a nice chocolate coconut blend. Again, the black tea base isn’t really anything to write home about. I would’ve preferred that they’d left out the chocolate drops just because I don’t care for the oiliness that melted chocolate contributes to a tea. It’s got really lovely coconut flavor due to the large coconut flakes scattered throughout the blend. It takes milk well, and I’ve had it both hot and iced.

Not a tea I’d repurchase, but I’ll probably finish the rest of the 100g.

I finally opened this up after it had spent an embarrassingly long time sitting in the cupboard. Why, oh why, do I do this? Too many teas, too little time, I guess. I want, I buy, then I “get around to drinking it.” Terrible behavior, but such is the life of this tea addict.
I clearly like coconut flavored teas, because this is the fourth tea I own that has coconut in it. As others have observed, the scent of the dry leaf is divine – mouthwatering, even. No way the brew could deliver that much taste, and it doesn’t. BUT – it still tastes great, just not nearly as aromatic and flavorful as the scent would lead you to believe. Not the first time that’s happened to me, anyway, so I took that in stride. Cocoa-y goodness with a hint of coconut – what’s not to love? A bit Almond Joy-ish, Bounty Bar-esque, with the coconut definitely there, but in the background. Although a great dessert tea, I had it at breakfast, with no regrets. I did overleaf just a little bit, but the brew didn’t suffer for it -
in fact, I think overleafing just a bit does it good. Lovely with milk, no sweetener, per my usual. I’ll continue to enjoy this one, and it’s too bad I waited so long to open it – will be making up for lost time now.

I’ve heard a mixture of negative and positive reviews about this tea and I thought I’d try it out to find my own opinion. some said that the smell was amazing but it was tasteless; others protesting that it was amazing, ticked all the boxes and couldn’t be better.

So heres my opinion.

When I opened the box the first thing was the smell. Chocolate. Coconut. Vanilla. I couldn’t possibly dream of anything better. When I was making the first cup I used my well loved T2 tea maker, like always. The smell of the tea was devine. When I took the first sip, I was a little disappointed. Yes, It was a little tasteless, but the second sip was different, it was just like what It smelt like – possibly even better. I kept on sipping; no more disappointments.

The only theory on the first sip is that I had such high expectations of it being amazing. I still have this tea and I savour every sip- trust me its good. the taste is a little fainter than the smell but altogether to die for. Will definitely repurchase this tea.

Mmmm I’ve drunk like three cups of this tea this morning… its pretty darn amazing and seriously reminds me of eating a big fluffy lamington…. especially when I add milk!! The dry leaf has some huge coconut pieces and a generous sprinkling of chocolate pieces which really helps the tea taste so darn authentic… No need to desperately crave a lamington when I have this tea in my stash – all i need to do is take a sip and close my eyes!!

Smells divine, with notes of chocolate and coconut as the name suggests. Quite good without sweetener, or add a touch of syrup or honey if you have a sweet tooth. I may or may not have picked out and eaten one of the chocolate buds!

I tried a sample of this on the T2 counter today when I dropped in, because for me it was the most appealing of this month’s three limited edition teas (theme: chocolate).

The smell of this tea was INTOXICATING and totally lamington! Super strong coconut and chocolate notes.

Unfortunately the tea itself wasn’t anywhere near as amazing as the scent—the black base was totally overpowering and the more exciting flavours got lost in it. It was actually kinda astringent, even.

I love T2’s creativity but I think they need to take a serious look at the base tea they’re using. This isn’t the first time one of their amazing limited edition teas has suffered with a poor base (looking at you, Banana Bake). But I’m pretty over it by now. I won’t be buying this. Take a break, wallet!

What about those tea-infused chocolates?! ;)

Memily

I’m not crazy for chocolate! Having said that… yeah, ok, I’m gonna have to try a couple. Dangit.

I was tempted to order some, but I don’t know about spending $15 on shipping just for chocolate. XD

beelicious

I was super tempted to order this (and stock up my melbourne breakfast at the same time) but i was cringing at the $35 international shipping change – looks like your review came just in time for my wallet!!

Memily

Ha! I’m happy to be your international hookup if you need some T2 any time, I know I can ship it at about half that cost. DM me any time :)

Bee, have you tried the Brisbane breakfast? That one is gorgeous. I need more. The Adelaide is lovely too.

beelicious

Adelaide is tasty, was not a fan of Perth, and Ive not tried Brisbane but it sounds tasty with the mango! Looks like I might get a sneaky quick trip back to Oz in September so you know my first stop after picking up all my missed foods will be T2 – Really appreciate the offer Memily, I’ll definitely keep that in mind :)
