Once upon a time, in a far away land, there lived a beautiful rooibos tea. All the other teas were jealous because the beautiful rooibos tea had the most enchanting aroma, and when all the royal customers would smell it…they would fall in love and find happily ever after in their cups. Did we mention that the teas richness in iron had all the lovely maidens feeling healthy and vibrant!

Sipdown (216)

This week has felt sooooooo long and it is only Wednesday. I came home at the end of April and it seems that my family has become reliant on me so even on my weekends I am taking care of them and during the week I come home after being out for 12 hours and then have to cook dinner and clean up and do laundry. I live with 3 adults. 2 of which are home most days, all day. Plus, I had a seizure a week ago. You’d think they would help but they really don’t do much. So tea hasn’t happened much the past couple days. I’ve either just been too tired or on Monday I decided I didn’t want to be the house chef so I made plans and went out with my friends for Japanese BBQ.

Today was an easy evening because I made tonight’s meal yesterday. Yay past me! That meant tea. Yay tea! So I am sipping on this tea from Evol Ving Ness (thank you!) while I rewatch Drag Race some more. I was surprised when I first drank this because I expected a lot more apple than what I got. More than anything I got cinnamon/almond pastry and slightly woody rooibos. I don’t really like it if I am being honest. It reminds me of a pastry I got at the Danish Pastry House the other day – a hoj snegl – which was filled with what tasted like cinnamon custard. I didn’t like that either.

Kittenna

Cinnamon custard sounds good! Haha. Not this tea, though.

VariaTEA

It was not. It was actually cinnamon and remonce.

Sil

ugh. I’m sorry that’s the situation these days. If we didn’t have the kiddo you could totally have come lived with us for the summer for a break haha

VariaTEA

Awww thanks Sil. I’ve escaped to my sisters this weekend so I get to take a break.

Sipdown (534)!

Another sample from my order; this is one I actually highly debated ordering a full size of but ultimately decided not to because I felt it would be too similar to teas I already have in my cupboard. I was definitely excited to see it as a sample though because it meant I still got to experience it!

Overall, I think I’m glad that I didn’t order it – it certainly was NOT a bad tea but I feel like I was right in that it wouldn’t have added anything to the growing catalog of teas I have. Not surprisingly given the name, it’s very apple flavoured – but definitely more of a smooth, buttery baked apple flavour rather than anything over the top juicy or tart/acidic. It’s kind of crazy how diverse apple flavours can be, when you think about it. Something else I found interesting was that the sweet almond flavours in the blend, which I thought might make me think of Forever Nuts from DT because of the cinnamon and apple pairing, reminded me pretty strongly of DT’s Cotton Candy blend and the way the mango/hazelnut pairing in that tea eerily recreates the titular flavour. So, this was almost like an apple flavoured cotton candy/fairy floss sort of thing to me? Not a lot of cinnamon going on overall, either.

Bottom line; very pleasant and I’m really happy that I did wind up getting to try it. Just not something I’d need in a larger size.
