This popular toucha was made from Daye (large) tea leaves from Wuliang and Lincang in Yunnan province. 2005 happened to be a good year for Nanjian tuocha.

With slightly lower brewing temperatures, I found: crisp subtle sweetness of the forest, buttery mouth feel, dried fruits, deep complex mineral notes, bright citrus zest, and a long sweet finish. Tricky tea, but satisfying once brewed properly.
Despite an orange liquor (5 years age doing this, or ?), the flavor and bitterness taste like traditional big factory sheng, in a dependable and comforting way: punchy, floral, bitter, and a tad smoky, I think this tuo’s flavor will go somewhere with more age. I lament at its dry storage and am curious how one of these aged in Guangzhou might taste.
