From Oliver Pluff & Company

Description: In the summer of 1794, President George Washington called out 12,950 militia to subdue violent protests by so called ‘Whiskey Rebels’ in Western Pennsylvania. The Rebels were farmers and whiskey distillers protesting taxes imposed on distilled spirits. The call out of the militia dispersed most of the protesters, and secured the new government’s authority.

In an interesting piece of history, after he left his Presidency, Washington built one of the largest distilleries in the United States.

We briefly aged this small batch tea in a whiskey barrel to infuse it with the aromas and flavor of a bourbon and to remember events from our country’s early history. We hope you enjoy the blend of aromas and flavors. Serve hot or iced. Can be used in a Mocktail.

Notes: Aroma of Bourbon. Hints of Caramel, Oak and a slight hint of smoke.

Ingredients: Black tea leaves

When one works in the finance department of an academic institution, the day before Christmas break leaves one feeling like Bob Cratchitt, slaving away over the ledgers while everyone else has already departed to make merry. (Anyone who asks, “Are you off on the 22nd?” should be boiled in his own pudding ;)

Kidding.

But the mug beside me is a tribute to Cratchitts everywhere — a lapsang that leans to the lighter side, laced liberally with honey. Bracing without being overpowering. Poor Bob couldn’t have afforded anything overpowering.

I hope there is more soothing tea in your future, along with a peaceful holiday break.

Actually, a little P&Q allowed us to make some headway on January projects.

Tiffany :)

I love your tasting notes, so entertaining! :)

Aw, thanks! I am unable to review anything objectively, consistently, or scientifically, so you get wonky and quirky instead.
