Green Tea Matcha Blend

Shopping at a Costco I stumbled on to this little treasure! It sold about 75 or a hundred packets of green tea and was sure to keep my stocks up for months! I just have to buy for mere 15$ than the usual 20 an ounce deal for the quality stuff. The price did not disappoint and the taste have not either! The tea tasted very vegeatal and grassy and will certainly raise my spirits up!

I think I go through a box every month. It’s just so good. But then again, I’m a huge fan of green tea.

I noticed that if you don’t follow the directions and use boiling water, it really does ruin the taste somewhat (I haven’t found this to be the case with all my other green teas for some reason). But if steeped properly, it’s just so so so good!!!

After every lunch and dinner meal, I finish off with a cup of this tea.
In the summer, I just get a 1L bottle of Dasani and put the bags in there and drink it all day to cool myself down (and I swear I lost 5lbs once because I did this).

Overall, my favourite tea – and that’s saying something since I have bags and bags and tins and tins of teas in my room. You know what I HATE though, they started cutting down on the matcha they add in… lame

Last year my boyfriend bought a mountain-load of green tea from Costco. This tea is really easy to prepare. You need to steep the tea for 30 seconds in 176-degree water, remove the tea bag and add any sencha dust left over in the packet. It has a pleasant taste I’ve come to expect from Ito En—really cheap teas but doesn’t skimp out on flavor.

My favorite green tea that’s not loose leaf. Loose leaf green tea clearly pwns the bagged green tea. However, this little treasure-in-a-bag has helped me through many headaches, sore throats, and tummy aches. I also typically drink this about 30 minutes before working out—something about green tea speeding up your calorie-burning process.

I chuckled when I saw this prompt because I knew exactly which tea to use! My partner bought a massive box of this tea at Costco before we got together—so, probably a little over 12 years ago! I remember he still had a decent amount left when we moved in together, and then successively smaller quantities have moved with us through various cities and states. We had three bags pushed to the back of our tea chest (actually this really neat metal button/notions box his tailor great-grandfather used), so I dug them out today and finished them off.

As you’d expect, 12-year-old bagged green tea is not stellar. But! It’s also not bad. Just very weak and thin, without too much flavor beyond a slight grassiness. The funny thing about this tea is that you get an individually wrapped tea sachet, which you are instructed to steep for 30 seconds, but the little plastic packet also includes matcha powder, which you pour from the packet onto your tea. It’s an experience!

I’m obviously not going to rate this tea because it is absurdly old. But I appreciated the reminder to drink it down—and the reminder of how it entered my collection!

I found this to be a very pleasant and light tea. The grassy flavor lingers for a short while after drinking.

Nice one to have on hand, like a ‘house’ tea if you will.

Plastic satchel is kinda lame.

I’m a big fan of Kirkland products, and I enjoy other ito en tea, so you can imagine I was pretty excited when I say this huge box just waiting for me to throw it in the cart.

It’s not bad, but it’s far too weak. It’s odd too, because I can see the tea in there. It’s getting wet and it’s in my cup, but at 30 seconds (as they recommend for the first steep) I can barely taste it. They also recommend dumping in the remaining matcha from the outside wrapper—there really isn’t any.

I feel like the packaging was designed for some long lost age when this tea was flavorful and complex. It’s not. It’s a cheap and weak green tea that I don’t regret buying per se (cheap and not necessarily offensive), but I don’t particularly look forward to drinking.
