68 Tasting Notes
I received this tea as a gift. This tisane is a good night cap. I don’t have any issues falling asleep but it tastes just fine and is a good evening tea. I don’t care for the scent after it’s been steeped. I finished off the contents of the bag the other night and left the used tea bag in a little cup to dispose of later. When I returned to the kitchen, I noticed an oft-putting, stinky feet smell wafting around. You don’t notice it in the cup, luckily. It looks like this particular tea is no longer available from the company’s website, so reordering is unlikely.

Much like Comic Book Guy on The Simpsons, I’ve recently experienced the worst of the worst. Rest assured I was on the internet within minutes registering my disgust throughout Steepster. This tea came in a set purchased at Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas. The other two teas, Nutcracker and Mandarin Orange Blend, are great, but I hadn’t tried the third tea, Organic Lychee Green. In the bag, the scent is slightly floral, fruity, and familiar. I think to myself, it’ll brew a good cup. Don’t be fooled! It’s a trap! I smelt it again after I finished brewing it. It’s a scent from my past, but I can’t connect the dots. I take a sip. It’s barely palatable, and wafts of perfume permeated the air. I asked my brother to take a sip. He concludes, “It’s Bath & Body Works Cucumber Melon Lotion.” The connection registers immediately. UGH! YES! Cucumber Melon was part of the middle school experience growing up in the ‘90s. And really, who wants to relive that period of angst and uncertainty through a cuppa? I sure don’t. Luckily, my boyfriend had consumed most of it, so we don’t have to buy this tea ever again. Worst. Tea. Ever.

A nice, mellow tea, good for a night cap. It has a vegetal/seaweed scent and mouth feel, but not too roasty. It has a light citrus aftertaste, too. Very subtle and sweet finish. I find myself making this tea when I’m all “tea’ed” out.
Flavors: Citrus, Grass, Seaweed
Preparation
My friend bought me a variety tea box set from her trip from WDW. Mango Green Tea was the first one I tried. This is at best, an average tea. The ingredients are premium green tea and mango flavor. However, it is most refreshing cold brewed or made into iced tea.

I had purchased 4 ounces of this tea in March of 2014 from the Upper West Side shop in New York and just finished the bag. Enjoyable to the last cup! I wish it had more roses, but it was one of the teas I reached for if I wanted something floral but nothing too sweet or foodie-tasting. Great for tea parties, as everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Flavors: Almond, Rose
Preparation
I visited SiTea one evening and had a lovely time. I came home with a bag of their Midnight Lovin’ Chai. I think it was their featured blend of the day, created with almond milk, which they offered as a sample as soon as my friend and I walked in through the door. One of the selling points of this tea is that it’s decaffeinated, so I drank it frequently in the evening when I was craving something spicy. For a chai blend, it is pretty good out of the bag, but I often doctor it up with fresh ginger. I would definitely consider repurchasing it in the future.

The story behind Great Grandfather’s Tea is so compelling, I just had to purchase it just to “brew a cup of history”! This tea is finely milled, so I don’t recommend steeping it for more than 3 minutes. Much like an older relative or that nosy retired neighbor with life experience, this brews a cup that isn’t afraid to speak its mind: it’s bold, sassy, and full of character. I’ve infused it with organic rose petals and the teapot just channels Dowager Violet Crawley from “Downton Abbey”. Great for the mornings, every day. Even the so-called “weekends”.
