Fruits d'Alsace

I have had this one in my cupboard forever. It is certainly a nice tea, nothing wrong with it. The black base is smooth, strong but not bitter and I definitely taste the fruits. Maybe I need to…..?add sugar…..?try it plain…?add in some frothed milk……I like it well enough, but not sure i find it very remarkable….. Well, I have a tin, so will get the chance to try it plenty more times, plenty more ways……trying to drink as much tea as possible while I clean house and await a FedEx delivery…..(not tea unfortunately)……..

Cold brewed for a day and a half. Added a teensy tiny bit of simple syrup (like a tablespoon to all 32oz).

Delicate, yet flavorful.

This smells so good in the tin, but hot-brews up iffy for me. Cold-brewing, on the other hand, winner!

Wonderful tart black cherry flavor; reminds me of black forest cake – add a little cocoa or dark chocolate, and it would taste exactly like black forest cake. I really enjoy that the cherry is not artificial, and there is no almond flavor as is common with most cherry flavorings. Just a rich authentic cherry with black tea.

The fruit taste of plum, cherry, and apricot blend well with this tea. As a hot tea it is a little sweet for my taste. As an iced tea it is one of my favorites, it is sweet and fruity and does not need anything added to it to make it a sweet iced tea. I would give it a score of 70 for hot and 90 for iced.

Meh. I won’t rate this one because I think the flavor has disappeared. I got this as a sample ina ziplock bag a long time ago. This didnt need any sugar or additives. It is not bitter and brews medium brown.

Next, it’s just “plum” luscious. The immediate sensory snapshot that accompanied the first sip was one of those dark 19th century still life oil paintings with a fruit bowl, like this one:

As to the flavor (and the scent, which is equally strong), it’s just a sweet and lovely melange of plummy, dark cherry, peachy, grapey fruit punch—no tartness, nothing standing out, including the tea base; everything playing nicely together. This cup is not going to last long.

Advent tea
This was pleasant and mildly fruity. More like a fruit blend than any specific fruit. A mellow black base, with no bitterness or astringency. It makes for an enjoyable advent tea!

This is one of the best teas I have had from Harney & Sons so far. The flavor is a wonderful combination of three juicy stone fruits: Cherry, plum and apricot. The two predominating flavors is the cherry and the plum. The apricot is more subdued but it is there and it adds a nutty flavor in the background. There is also a trace of vanilla and a deeper berry flavor that reminds me of a dark berry – maybe blackberry or black currant. But it does not say anything about those flavors on the tin. The fruit flavor in this tea actually reminds me of a Milbona yogurt you can buy in Lidl that is called “Fruits of the Forest”.

The tea flavor itself is hard to detect because of the strong fruit aroma but you can taste that it is a high-quality Chinese black tea with no bitterness or astringency. The tea is medium-bodied.

I highly recommend this tea, especially if you are a fan of fruity black teas.

Dry leaves, aroma:
Cherry and plum with a hint of apricot and vanilla. Berries. Very sweet and fruity smelling.

Dry leaves, appearance:
Black Chinese tea leaves with chunks of dried apricots and dried cherries.

Liquor:
Medium to dark brown.

This is nice…smooth, sweet, and fruity. Honestly, I wasn’t 100% sure exactly what kind of fruit this was supposed to be until I read the description, but I do sort of get cherry from it now that I know I’m supposed to. :) Nothing super special or memorable, but I enjoyed it!

I’ve been loving Harney & Sons lately, so I was super excited to see this one included in the TTB. There is a light aroma of stone fruits in the dry blend, and it becomes even lighter once steeped. I’m not getting very much flavor really, so that’s unfortunate. I think doubling up on the dry leaf might have made a difference. I’m also tasting the tiniest bit of chocolate so perhaps that’s the base? I would try this again, but perhaps prepared differently.
