There are big chunks of dark chocolate in this blend. The scent is very lavender forward. I don’t taste a stitch of chocolate. It’s more like a slightly creamy lavender tea. I don’t mind lavender, and actually quite like it. But still a bit sad this didn’t live up to its name!

Thank you to Cameron for sharing this one! :)

I agree, this was so lavender heavy…

Oh my god, also thank you! How could I forget that in my note! :O

Strange VariaTEA TTB: Tea #6

I think this was one of the subscription box exclusives, so I’m grateful to VariaTEA for including it so I had the chance to try it! As tempting as it was to latte, since latte is in the name, I decided to just have it with a splash of milk so that I wouldn’t use as much tea leaf – I want to give others the chance to try it too.

I feel like, in theory, this sounds really good – chocolate and lavender as pretty complimentary to each other and lavender lattes are also definitely a very enjoyable, pleasant thing. I found this to be VERY lavender forward though – in a way that really dominated the cup and, for me at least, really didn’t create for a balanced drink. I do like lavender teas, but I personally prefer them lighter and this seems a bit more apt to a hardcore lover of lavender. Not a bad flavour of lavender though, mind you – just not the direction/level I expected or personally wanted.

nope. Too much lavender, not enough “cocoa” and mostly just nope. Thanks for the share VariaTEA haha

Kittenna

This one was a subscription exclusive for February.

I was pretty certain I wouldn’t enjoy this, because I’m not the biggest lavender fan in general, and there’s quite a lot of lavender in it. But I gave it a chance anyway, because you never know!

But alas, this is not for me. It mostly tastes like a slightly creamy lavender tisane with a hint of chocolate. And since I don’t love lavender, I don’t love it.

Into the rehoming box it goes!

Well that’s a shame. I love the lavender/chocolate flavor pairing! (I even make my own lavender hot chocolate)

I’ll have to send this one your way next time!

Kittenna

Yes, this is a very lavender tea. Haha.

This was part of the sub box and while it sounds good in theory, I’m reminded again and again I don’t like lavender in my tea. I made this as a latte, as recommended. My milk didn’t froth properly but it ended up being okay for the latte. I love the smell of this tea but it tastes like soap. No cocoa, just soap. This got tossed into the TTB where hopefully a lavender lover will find and enjoy it.

I tried this one tonight as well. It’s too much lavender for me. :(

Kittenna

I still find it so weird that my palate changed from lavender = soap to lavender = delicious. Either way, this is definitely only a tea for those who really like lavender.

Silent Kettle

Lavender is definitely a strong flavour!

Mastress Alita

Usually lavender is far too light in teas for me. I’m one of those people that can happily put plain lavender buds in water and steep-and-drink.

Drank this quickly, tasted lavender. Oddly, I think I mistook it briefly for Elderflower Oolong, which is weird – but by the time I’d realized that I was misidentifying cups, it was all gone so I can’t be certain.
