From DAVIDsTEA

Do you need to balance your Pitta? Our Ayurvedic tea is designed to cool you down when you’re feeling angry, jealous, critical or frustrated. It’s a sweet, exotic blend of chrysanthemum, saffron, marigolds, cardamom, organic hibiscus, peppermint, sarsaparilla, raspberry leaf, organic holy basil, lemon and peach. Ayurvedic medicine has been around for over 5000 years, so it just might do the trick.

This is the second of two Ayurvedic teas I purchased in my most recent Davids Tea order. This one is distinctly more herbal in character than the Kapha blend I tried a few days ago. It smells like peppermint and miscellaneous herbs with a touch of citrus – not an off-putting scent but not terribly compelling either. The hibiscus in the ingredient list had me worried, but in this case it was so subtle I could barely taste it beyond a faint sourness. The flavour is rather minty with unidentifiable herbal notes. It’s not objectionable, though I don’t find it particularly remarkable either.

I was looking for a substitute for straight raspberry leaf tea (can’t stand the taste, but I like the benefits), so I gave this a try. Much better than plain raspberry leaf tea, but I don’t know if I like it enough for it to be a daily drink.

This tea is the YUM! I brought mine to work, because, as the tea container states, nobody wants “an explosion” in the workplace. Too bad, I had only been at work less than two hours and needed some :-P

I would recommend this as a great decaffeinated tea for evening time. It has lots of soft, fruity, and flowery flavors.

And I definitely feel more relaxed after having my cup!

This tea tastes exactly like the fruity, yellow Trident gum. I think it’s passion berry or tropical twist or something or other. It smells like it, too. I love it to bits, and it’s certainly part of my permanent collection. I don’t know if it does anything to keep me from being angry, but it definitely tastes absolutely delicious. I’m in love with the citrus-y floral flavour, and I actually quite like that I can’t put my finger on exactly what I’m tasting at each moment. As long as it makes me feel good and happy, it’s doing its job.

As a side note, contrary to what another person said, this tea doesn’t make me sleepy. But I’ve found that certain ingredients in tea definitely have different effects on different people, so try it out for yourself and see what happens :-)

this tea is on the verge of a taste i dislike but cannot pinpoint exactly what it is. more one of the teas i’d drink for benefit rather than taste/enjoyment, similar to those cold/flu teas. who knows if it really works in terms of what the Davids description says, probably mostly a placebo effect, but i’ll take it. i have no issues with mind tricks to calm down.

Sipdown! (96/395)

Another one of my oldest teas that I should be moving out of my cupboard. It probably sat in there way too long, but I don’t think it affected the flavour too much. Sadly, I didn’t get any peach from this, like I was hoping – it was mainly a peppery holy basil drink with some lemon undertones. Drinkable, but not memorable, and I did notice a slightly scratchy throat after I’d finished the mug. I wish I had more to say about it but it really wasn’t all that memorable.

Thank you Miss B for my sample!

I’m always excited to try a new herbal, especially one purported to be ayurvedic in nature, and yet leery at the same time. Will it be tasty? Well, this one most definitely is… peachy. Juicy. Surprisingly. There’s a bit of herbalischiouness going on in the background, but for the most part, it’s a juicy peach that fell to the ground, bouncing in some sort of light herbs.

Sounds nice. So many “healthy” herbals end up tasting like lemon, mint, and tree bark.

Stephanie

Interesting. Is it flavored? I’m guessing it probably is. Still sounds kinda neat :)

MissB

Yes, as with most DAVIDs blends, there’s a peach flavoring I think in here. It got a bit weird as it cooled though, but hot/warm, it was really tasty.

I bought this tea online so I didn’t have a chance to smell it… When I got it I couldn’t bring myself to drink it cause the smell gave me a headache and couldn’t imagine what the taste would be. After reading a few reviews on here I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised.. It tasted ok.. More like a mint tea… I won’t be buying more but at least I will finish the 50g bag I bought,,

I only drink Pitta tea when my dosha is out of balance. It is more like medicine to me. For taste I chose other blends.
If a person feels irritated and their Pitta is out of balance it is best to drink the Pitta tea when it has cooled off.
In order for it to work you need to drink few cups a day for few days.
