Pumpkin Pie Matcha

I was surprised by how much I liked this. It has the pumpkin pie spice to it but with a little grassiness. It should not work in all logic but it does. I also like how it is heavier on the cinnamon than the clove. Clove is one of the reasons I hate pumpkin pie.

I also expected Davids matcha to be bitter for some reason but it is not at all.

Just not what I was hoping for as Pumpkin Pie. I think I’ll stick with plain Matcha from now on.

Finally, I get to try this! Of course my opinion of this won’t matter at this point since it’s no longer available but I’m hoping I won’t like this too much or anything.

…but I must say, that this is probably my favourite flavoured matcha DAVIDs has offered to date. It’s not an apparent pumpkin pie flavour, but it has that delicate hint of spice combined with a whipped cream-like note. I’m enjoying it more than RLT’s Pumpkin Pie matcha. That one is really spicy, and as much as I like spice, it is a little too one-dimensional, especially because it’s really heavy on the cinnamon and/or clove, if I remember correctly.

This is more balanced. I added about 6g of matcha to a Nordic-sized mug with a dash of sugar and a couple teaspoons of fat-free creamer. I forgot that DAVIDs already added some cane sugar to this matcha, so I wonder if I didn’t use sugar next time, if the spices would be more prominent. It can go either way with sweeteners, it seems.

Another yummy flavoured matcha. The pumpkin spice flavour is subtle and plays second to the earthy taste of matcha, though this wasn’t surprising at all. It has just enough flavouring to take the edge off the vegetal matcha. Great for when you want a hint of pumpkin spice rather than being slapped by it. There is a lot of sugar cane already in this, so it doesn’t require any sweetening.

I’m finally trying this tea after having it for a while in my cupboard. It feels like a matcha morning today haha I guess I want some energy to maybe figure out my Halloween costume today lol.

I whisked a tsp of this in a bit of 175 degree water then topped it up in a mug with water of the same temperature. The dry smell was interesting, definitely matcha with some spices and a faint added creaminess.

The flavor is interesting. I haven’t had a flavored matcha since I used to drink RLTs flavored ones, so it’s been a while. This is definitely different than I’m used too. It is a mildly grassy matcha with added sweetness that kind of tastes like a whipped cream flavor, with mild spices that are not overly identifiable. I suppose if I think aboyt it, it kind of tastes like pumpkin pie, but still a bit iffy. It is pleasant enough to drink, but I prefer regular unflavored matcha haha.

Overall, for a matcha I imagine this is not doing a terrible job emulating a ‘pumpkin pie’ flavor, but it’s not my favorite. But I’m happy I tried it!

Had forgotten that I’d tried this before. Still doesn’t quite match my idea of pumpkin pie spicing but it’s alright as a latte. Prefer the Vanilla Chai, EG cream, and some of the fruitier ones (which oddly, I don’t actually own…)

This was a strange one, as it was another matcha, and I’m still not entirely sure how much I like matcha. I could definitely taste the pumpkin, but there was the expected grassy aftertaste to it, as well. It was good, but not one I’d likely go out of my way to get. There are other pumpkin teas that I like better. Still, I’m glad I tried this!

Tried this a few ways…as an iced latte at first, and then, feeling like it was hard to pull out any subtle spices and flavours, I tried it on it’s own. I got a slight metallic taste, but nothing that really resembled pumpkin spice. I think that this kind of matcha is destined to be a latte with only a light sweetness, but not much else. I don’t know if I would get more to play with, to see if I could drink straight without the metallic taste, and try to get the best flavour out of, but I might just try another flavour instead. I’m on the fence with this one now…

Dry Leaf Nose: Pumpkin pie and warm spice aroma.

Liqueur: Opaque emerald green. Warm pumpkin pie spice aroma is very forward.

Flavour: Rich and creamy pumpkin pie flavor with a slight vegetal character and a warm spice linger.
