Blue Lagoon

Oh my god oh my god. I don’t know why I waited so long to try this tea (and by “so long” I mean that I actually purchased this on Wednesday evening). I would give it a rating of 100, but I don’t want to do that just yet because I know it’s probably also a bit of first-sip excitement. But guys, this tea.

The dry leaf scent is intoxicating, although you can definitely sniff out the candied pineapple, and that might be a touch off-putting for some in its strength. I brewed it for five minutes, through caution to the wind, and actually decided to sip it straight because I was feeling all badass today, and you know how it rolls.

And omg. I don’t even know if I can break it down. I tasted blueberry, pineapple (although not so distinctly), and just, I don’t know. I tasted a beach and distant shores; I tasted lying in one of those uncomfortable plastic chairs on the beach that you try to make comfortable by heaping towels on it, soaking up the sun and feeling sand sift through your fingers. It tasted all things exotic. it tasted like giddy, first-date excitement when you’re young and have butterflies of hope and anticipation.
Oh god, I need to shut up. But I already feel as though i want a tin of this.

But seriously. I, even I had it with no additions. And that’s huuuuge.
Oh, and a note to the people worried about the lemongrass: worry not, my child. It provides but the faintest whisper of a distant tartness, but it’s almost undetectable in the true sense.

Just get this. Just try it!

Mmmm! I’ve been looking for more lemongrass teas since DAVIDs has discontinued Honeybush Lemon Ginger. This one reminds me a little bit of it except it has fruits in it. I like it because it’s not tart (thank goodness they didn’t put hibiscus in it!) and refreshing. The lemongrass base is definitely a wise choice. I’m going to have to pick up a full tin next time I’m there!

Coldbrewed this for a day and I had it with some friends last night. I added a splash of blueberry pancake liquor and oh man. Oh. Man. So good. Do iiiiit.

I’m still getting a little tart and juicy, but I’ll say this tea is still pretty tasty. I’ll probably get more of this, at least for now. Maybe just another small amount, like 25-30g. We ’re starting to have warmer sunny days, so a cold brew of this is lined up at some point.

I immediately want 100g of this. It does remind me of blue whale candy.
And it’s in my blue whale mug! They match!

(I on the other hand don’t – blue sweat pants and a bright orange tank top. I’m staying home today, can you tell?)

I’ve got the used leaves cold-steeping right now and I am very excited to try it later on!

BLUE WHALE CANDY TEA!

This was one of the free samples on offer today at David’s Tea, so I had a sip. And oh boy, I did not like it.

It smelled like cough syrup. It TASTED like cough syrup. I do not want to drink a shotglass of warm cough syrup.

After I finished, there was a long aftertaste of blueberries. That wasn’t so unpleasant. But I’m glad I didn’t actually have to pay for the sips I took.

So I brewed it hot, had a few sips and then became a cleaning machine for about 40 mins. I just sat down to browse Twitter and Tumblr, then remembered my cup. This is amazing cold. So naturally sweet and just the perfect amount of tart (which, for me, is hardly any because I’m a big baby). Someone mentioned in their review that this would make a good cocktail and they are very right.

I haven’t been one for fruity teas lately, but this has definitely changed my mind.

Well, its a beautiful day here in Halifax. For the first time in months its been semi warm..my friend and I decided to go for a little walk downtown and we walked by davids, so I suggested we go in to smell the new collection. The salesgirl gave us each a sample of blue lagoon.. I instantly said this would be amazing if we infused it with vodka and blueberries. There is something about it that screams cocktail!, it was served to us hot, but I could see this being fantastic iced. I also liked that the lemongrass didnt overpower the berries. I love lemongrass, but I dont like when it is too strong.

First off, how lucky am I to work right next to a DAVIDsTEA. Say what you will, tea connoisseurs, that DAVIDs is no good. I am admittedly new to the loose leaf tea world, but am truly enjoying DAVIDs so far! :D My fellow co-workers and I review teas so this just seemed a natural extension. This is my first post. ^^

Blue Lagoon! When I first smelled it, it reminded me of summer! Tropical blue skies and warm heavy air… a tropical cocktail on the beach? :) I had a sample warm and decided it was tasty – sweet but not too sweet, the subtle lemon adds a lovely tartness that balances the blueberry and pineapple so well! I initially thought it would be amazing iced.

I came back the next day to purchase Cool Cucumber – my original favourite, and grabbed a small tin of Blue Lagoon as well. I made some hot and omg! I like it even more the second time. I got a lot of blueberry up front, admittedly a little artificial like a candy… but nicely balanced by the pineapple for more sweetness and even some tartness from the lemongrass! I’m thinking this will be a great tea for creative minds…inspiring lemongrass! Mmm!

I think it’s great hot but would make a lovely iced tea too! I will review again, perhaps. If you enjoy teas like Blueberry Jam, Currant Affair and Cranberry-Pear… I think you’d like this. Most notably like Blueberry Jam but with some tropical sweetness ^^

I was thrilled when I got home today and my mom surprised me with a few of the new teas! (Thanks mom!) and after smelling those that she had picked up, I decided this would be the first one I had to try. The dry smell is very sweet. The pineapple intermingles with the smell of the blueberries which makes the fruity smell intoxicating. When steeped, the blueberry smell becomes more apparent and the pineapple is still detectable in the background. When steeped, the tea takes on a grey-blue colour before turning purple. The tea itself is very sweet and for me, the taste of the pineapple came through more than that of the blueberries- I definitely wouldn’t add any sweetener as it is already sweet enough. If you like fruity teas, pineapple and blueberries, I definitely recommend this tea! I look forward to trying this iced as well!
