From DAVIDsTEA

Get rich quick

Have you heard tales of the wealthy Brazilian eccentric? According to local stories, he was completely obsessed with Brazil nuts, the source of his fortune. He insisted on having them in every meal – even his afternoon tea! Was it needless decadence, or a stroke of genius? You’ll have to taste it yourself to decide. This fabulously opulent blend combines black tea with whole Brazil nuts, raisins and coconut. Trust us – it tastes like a million bucks.

Ingredients: Black tea, Brazil nuts, golden raisins, coconut, natural and artificial flavouring*.

OH MY GAWD!!! I love it! This was one of those that I just browsed by on the DavidsTea website, but after Stephanie sent me the cute little DAVIDsTEA samples that you get with orders, I am stocking up on it! I have been Sipping on this all day getting all the steepings I can out of this baby. This is a nice naturally sweet tea. The brazil nuts add a great nutty flavor. Overall it is a nice robust tea and I’m lovin it!
I enjoyed it with some crumpets with my aunts homemade peach preserves and cookie butter and pumpkin spice granola cereal that I picked up at trader joe’s.

This is one of my favorites! It’s so nutty! :)

Another tea prepared by the David’s tea staff in Victoria, again it was prepared with soymilk.

Definitely kind of a disappointment for me, this was another one I found lacking in flavor. I got only faint flavors of brazil nut and coconut, overall I found the tea to be kind of thin and watery. Might be better prepared at home, I have no idea.

I guess I’m just not the biggest fan of David’s tea in general?

Tealizzy

This tea needs to be overleafed. The large brazil nut chunks make you think you have a lot when you don’t. You have to make sure there’s plenty of actual tea leaves in there. Otherwise it turns out weak. I’d suggest buying a small amount and then brewing it yourself. :)

thanks, maybe I will. :)

This came in the Father’s Day special “The Gentleman’s Collection” which I purchased… for myself. :)

Overall, I’m not crazy about Brazil nuts, but I do enjoy overall nuttiness. It was the combination of the nuts with the raisins and coconut that intrigued me – that, and it was a sample size (small tin included! yay!). The dry mix smelled very toasty and nutty, similar to peanut butter, but saltier. And the nuts in this mix of tea are T-H-I-S BIG! The coconut shavings are quite sizable too.

Initially I used only 3 grams of tea, but the brew was weak for 8 ounces. The color of the tea liquor was also lighter than I thought it would be. It was more of a darker yellowish color, slightly leaning toward brown and a very watery version of what the second cup produced.

On the suggestion of another Steepsterite, I cut up the giant nut pieces so it would be more evenly distributed throughout the dry tea mix.

Trying once more, I used 6 grams of tea (there’s nuts AND raisins in the blend, making it a heavier blend) for the 8 ounces of water. 5 minutes later I added a little Sugar in the Raw. This was so much better than the first cup. The tea liquor this time around is murky and light reddish-brown in color. The top of the liquid glistens with nut and flavor oils. Not the best tea to be drinking out of a clear glass cup, but I’ll keep that in mind for next time.

The taste is very Brazil-nutty. I’d assume the raisins were in the mix to offset the saltiness imparted by the nuts. The coconut just rounds out the nuttiness of the tea.

Glad I got this as I have a tin to show for it, but probably not something I’d put on my shopping list.

I received this as a sample with my last order. I don’t keep DT samples around too long because I’m trying to go through most of their teas, pick out the ones I love and move on.

I don’t think this will make my shopping list, it is too nut heavy for me. My sample packet had two huge halves of a Brazil nut, two raisins and a skimpy amount of tea. I was tempted to blend it with something else to add more base but it would have defeated the purpose. So I put less water but I think I should have gone with even less than I did.

I sweetened it but it is not necessary. I was just in the mood for something sweet. And after the initial unadorned tasting sips I added caramel creamer. Now it’s good! Caramel, Brazil nut and coconut.

5g sample pack, 7 oz water, boiling water, 4 minutes. Predominantly nutty brew, not astringent in the least. ( I don’t get much of anything after the Brazil nut but they say there’s coconut here)

Really……….. I’m looking for a predominantly nutty tea. All the ones I’ve tried have been too apple/cinnamon to call nutty. I might have to try this if it’s heavy on the nuts. Not sure why I haven’t tried it.

Fjellrev

This was a pleasant surprise for me when I tried it. Definitely a nut-heavy tea.

Tealizzy

Ya, this one is very nutty. Try not to skimp on the leaf on this one. :)

This tea is nuts. Quite honestly nuts. There was a whole brazil nut in my sample, along with a rasin! Ok then, time to steep it up.
The nuttyness comes through just fine, though I dont get any of the raisin in it. It reminds me of a cookie with nuts in it. Actually pretty fun.
I dont know that I’ll buy this, but it was sure fun to try.

caile

Did you eat the brazil nut? :-)

Rosehips

No! I’ve still got my loose leaf, so I should eat it, shouldent I? A tea flavored brazil nut!

caile

Yes! I bet it will be good!

Hmmm, this is tasty.

I got a sample of this one from Courtney today, who so graciously picked up some teas from DavidsTea that were on my list to try. I got them in the mail today, and I was seriously looking forward to this all afternoon at work.

WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED.

This is so nutty and delicious and just a bit sweet from the raisins. I might have to pick up some more of this one, but black teas aren’t really at the top of my list.

I am officially perplexed. The only nuts I enjoy eating are cashews, with the occasional peanut. So why did I fall in love with this tea? The nut flavours round out with the tea deliciously, and I am really happy that this was my morning tea choice today. Yum!

I received a swap today from akgrowngirl, and this is the first tea that I’m trying. I’ve wanted to try this for awhile now, and it smells deliciously nutty. The flavor is sweet and nutty with a coconut aftertaste that lingers. It’s a nice balance – not too nutty but with a hint of sweetness, from the coconut and raisins, I’m guessing. There’s a warm toastiness to it that makes you want to take another sip. Glad this one lived up to my expectations! Thank you akgrowngirl!

-Dry blend has large black tea leaves with large pieces of coconut and raisins.
-Dry leaves smell heavily of nuts and coconut. Tea liquor aroma is toasty and nutty.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium orange brown color with an oily sheen on top.
-Sweet nutty flavor and finish. Light toasty coconut aftertaste that lingers.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Very good tea. A toasty and nutty cup with a hint of sweetness.

Got this as a tea to go today…treated by a friend of mine. So nice. Love when that happens. Not as good as when I make it at home…I’m getting more nut than raisin in this steep. Still good, and still one I like to make every now and again. I might get more of this once I sipdown more from my collection, but it is not an essential tea…just one that is nice every now and again.

This one is very smooth. It goes down easy. Though I wish I could get a little more sweetness from the raisins. I’ll have to double check that I get more in there next time. Overall, pretty good though I don’t think I’ll keep it regularly. Every once in a while I could see enjoying it.
