From DAVIDsTEA

A seductive threesome

Who’d have thought pu’erh, gunpowder green tea and peppermint would get along so well? Maybe it’s their contradictory natures that make them so desirably delicious together. But then, hasn’t there always been something magical about threes? Think of the Three Fates. The Three Tenors. The three bears. The Holy Trinity. And now this amazingly earthy, refreshing taste sensation.

Good thing too as Shadowfall rec’d our Adagio order and in a few weeks it’ll be in my hands. If I had it today, with all my other incoming teas/samples, I’d be at 200. (OMG).

Exciting times!

Road trip tea! It was off to London and its incredible Tea Haus for a tasting and a shopping spree, but I had to start the day off right, with one of my all-time favourite teas. Equal parts minty, musty, and smoky, this tea is perfectly balanced between light and dark and sweet and savoury. Just perfect.

Again, drank, backlogging, forget how it tasted, except I do recall the mint, and the fact that I don’t think I much cared for it. I see that there’s pu’erh in it; that may have something to do with it! Anyhow, thanks for letting me sample it Janelle!

This is another tea that I recieved in my Hoppitea basket if you will from Fairyfli. So I love mint. I like gunpowder. I love Pu-Erh. Mix them all together and….meh! I not awesome…it’s not terrible either. The combination just make for a little bit of a muddy flavor. I’m glad I got the chance to try this tea.

Day 87 of my 101 days of DAVIDsTEA challenge.

1 1/4-ish tsp in my tea-ball, brewed in-cup.

This is one tea that I’m sad to see discontinued. It has an intriguing, but very balanced flavour. The peppermint and pu-erh seem to come out the most, with the green tea providing a balance between the two. The result is a multi-layered tea that is somehow both earthy and fresh.

I really enjoyed this cuppa. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a bit more of it before it’s completely gone…..

I find this tea caters to your taste buds. It has a variety of teas in it and you taste what you want to. I generally pull peppermint as a high note, with undertones of green tea. My roommate tends to taste strong notes of green tea couples with the earthy pu’erh.

I like this tea for multiple reasons; it’s very versatile. It tastes great hot because the pu’erh grounds the mixture well. It also tastes fabulous cold because the peppermint is amplified making the tea very refreshing. It’s a great summer tea when it’s iced and I reckon it’ll be a good autumn tea that can carry you into the winter because of the dark pu’erh and mild green tea. It works well as both a morning tea and an afternoon tea, which comes in handy if you carry these teas to work. Lastly, it smells great in can and cup, which is always a bonus.

This tea also pairs wonderfully with peppered food if you’re looking to take your spice up a notch. The peppermint and ground pepper mix to make firecrackers dance across your tongue. If you enjoy spicy food or are looking to pull out the peppers in your food (because you sick perhaps, like I am today) then this is your tea.

If you are looking for a new autumn tea, I’d recommend trying this one.

P.S. This resteeps well.

I got this as a sample from my last online order and decided to try it this morning. It was kinda meh, nothing fantastic to write home about and could barely taste the mint. i guess the predominant taste would be the pureh which is fine but I am not a big fan. I will give this another go though as I steeped it at a low temp as it had green tea but DT’s website recommends 98 so that might have had something to do with it.

Got this tea as a sample with an order a few months ago and completely forgot that I had it. Tried it today and it was just OK. I like peppermint teas, and the mint in this one didn’t really jump out at me. Also, it had that smokey taste that I don’t really enjoy. It didn’t taste stale, but maybe it had lost some of its “oomph” by the time I got around to tasting it. Oh well, glad it was just a sample.

I received a sample of this in my last two orders. Not something I would buy, and definitely does not fit my tastes. Too minty in a gross, overly sharp way.

This tea has such a wonderful minty flavour I could drink it all day long. Not too sweet and the combination of flavours is a nice change from the usual citrusy-mint blends. Definitely highly recommended this to anyone who likes peppermint, I doubt you will be disappointed.
