Just received my first Butiki order today. I stalked my front porch all day till the mail man came. I needed my TEA!

It’s the evening so this is the first one out of my stash that I’m going to try. Because it’s probably the only tea I ordered that’s herbal. And I am so pumped!

I smell the leaves and it’s like…ohh mama yes. Like chocolate peppermint melties…like after 8’s or something. I can’t wait. 5 minutes pass already!!!

Mamma needs her tea fix.

Waiting here in my jammies at 8:00 for my tea to steep so I can head back to bed….because I’m old…well not old…I’m 30. But I have a four year old and a new baby so…

I feel old

It’s done!!

Ahh the aroma…sweet peppermint..little bit of chocolate. Still a lot like peppermint patties.

Tasting it really hot, there isb’t a ton of initial flavor but there is a loveley and cooling aftertaste of sweet peppermint. and I don’t mean candy sweet….just naturally sweet.

Added a little sweetner as recommended and there’s the chocolate! It isn’t rich pow chocolate but it is light and balanced. I’m wondering if I shouldn’t have let the tea cool slightly to see if the chocolate wold have come out a little on it’s own…oh well…next steep.

It’s really lovely. Refreshing and sweet, a nice little late night treat when your wanting something sweet late at night. I am thinking I’m going to give it one more steep and leave the sugar out. It’s almost too sweet for me with any sweetener. But it’s a nice flavor.

Ok….the more I sit and sip on it the more I like it. It does satisfy my sweet tooth that’s for sure and it does feel like a treat. Every sip gets better and better.

Sadly I am almost out of this. I needed a pick me up from all the rich food I ate last night and help my scratchy throat go away. This tea is smooth but again, I wish I could taste the chocolate more because eating less sweets is one of my resolutions.

Oh my god, tea overload! Between trying to sample everything from the travelling tea box and trying to sample everything from the 2 new orders I recently received so that I can see what I want to add to the tea box, I am getting tea’d out! I had this tea last night before I went to bed, and it was a pretty good chocolate mint tea. The chocolate didn’t come out as much as I would like, but that might have been my fault becuase the water was not hot enough, there was still whole chocolate chips left in my steeper after I poured it. I like that is it herbal as most of the chocolate mint teas I’ve had are black or rooibos based. I am always looking for a good herbal and this one will work nicely. I will have to try it a few more times before I decide if I would re-order.

Got this tea as a sample with a recent order. I made a small cup of it so that I would have left over to share with my mother.

I brewed this according to recommended instructions (5 min with boiled water). The chocolate flavor came out really strong. I think that it over powers the mint just a bit. I wouldn’t mind so much except that the chocolate here isn’t so tasty for me. I can’t complain too much as this is a vegan company after all, but vegan chocolate has never been my thing.

I wouldn’t mind another cup and if my mother ends up liking it, I may have an occasional bit from her stash. I like to have a mint tea once in a while, esp. after dinner. I like this better than Moroccan mint, at-least.

Ok this one makes me sad. How can I not like it? I’m supposed to like it. I’m supposed to LOVE it, it came so highly recommended! Maybe I did something wrong? I didn’t get any chocolate taste, though there were plenty of chocolate chips. It didn’t seem like the boiling water melted them at all. Maybe I should’ve stirred it? In any case, all I got was a very… green? earthy?… something I didn’t like, with some cooling peppermint at the end of each sip. Definitely not a peppermint patty in my cup. I ended up pouring it out :(
I’ll definitely give it another shot though… it gets so many rave reviews I feel bad for not liking it! Will try stirring next time to see if that helps bring out the chocolate. I’m open to suggestions!

You need to overleaf this one; so 1.5 tsp per 8oz cup. Does that help at all?

Sarah

Good to know, I’ll give it a try that way and report back!

Peppermint tea is always my “go-to” cup. I find that when I don’t know what else to have and I just can’t make my mind up, peppermint is the answer! It always makes me happy. This is a good one. Nice, clear, bright peppermint flavour with a hint of sweetness. For me, the chocolate in this just comes accross as the sweetness that I just spoke of. Personally, I can’t really pinpoint it as “chocolate” per se which is a tad disappointing but it makes such a welcome caffeine-free option when I spend so much time drinking mostly green tea.

Well, I picked this tea out of the cupboard using the tried and true method of ‘closing my eyes and flailing my arm around’. I wish I had picked a black tea as I’m dragging a bit this morning and I’ve picked up a nasty cold somewhere, but I shall survive.

This is a good tea, chocolatey and minty. I sweetened it a bit since I just drank some chocolate almond milk so I didn’t want to get the shock of going from sweetened beverage to unsweetened one. Still this is tasty and I’ll look forward to drinking the rest of it.

Sipdown! (129/395)

Brewed a whole pot of this and left it 45 minutes as it was underleafed. Just had a phone call that the boyfriend is on his way to pick me up, so it looks like this is a travel tea tonight. Fingers crossed I can convince him to try it…

Update: he took one sip, pulled a face and said ‘interesting’ so I didn’t push it. I was surprised at how strong this was given that I only used 2 teaspoons for 30oz of water, and drank without additives I got a buttery aftertaste but no chocolate. I added a couple of teaspoons of coconut sugar to the pot as per my last tasting note on this tea, and found that this brought out the chocolate a little more. The pot went down quickly with a couple of gin & tonic white chocolate cookies while watching Angel, which is another thing I’m trying to impose on Ryan. 1 for 2 tonight, but I’ll take that.

400th tasting note!

This is an old sample that I had tucked away. This tastes creamy, minty, and sweet with just a touch of chocolate. There’s just enough there for one more cup. I think I’ll add some crio bru to try and bump up the chocolate flavor.
