From Butiki Teas

Pistachio Ice Cream has an Organic Mao Jian base with generous amounts of roasted pistachios and a dash of lotus stamens. The sweet roasted pistachio flavor is immediately noticed followed by prominent notes of heavy cream. Light notes of vanilla can also be distinguished. Add some sugar to turn this smooth full-bodied tea into a dessert treat that resembles pistachio ice cream.

Ingredients: Organic Green Tea, Pistachios (roasted, unsalted), Lotus Stamens, Natural Flavoring (vegan)

Recommended Brew Time: 2 minutes 30 seconds
Recommended Amount: 1 level teaspoon of tea for 8oz of water
Recommended Temperature: 180 F

Wow amazing! I love the pistachio smell and flavour. I brewed according to the directions and don’t find any bitterness with the green base at all, just a perfect balance of the pistachio then I taste the base and then am left with a buttery creaminess.

ETA: made more of this for the boys and hubby to try and they loved it. This was the favourite over cantaloupe and cream, so I too am bumping the rating up a bit:)

I added a full teaspoon of sugar this time, and I was more generous with the leaves. I was also not afraid to let it steep for a little longer than usual. This tea just gets better and better every time!

Now that I am recovering from teh sick, and am not going to contaminate anything with bad germs, I’m busy making up a huge list of samples I’ve promised people. Sil, your box is going to need a bigger box! IDK how I’m going to send all this stuff! Maybe some creative packing…

Tonight this tea is turning out to be too green for me. It’s really spinachy and savoury, which isn’t really what I wanted. I think I’m going to add a bit of sugar and some eggnog to reduce the greenness and bring it back to sweet dessert tea. :)

Yeah, this tea is always more green than I want it to be.

OMGsrsly

Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn’t. Doesn’t help that I didn’t write the steeping instructions on my sample! So I just made it up, and it didn’t work for me. One more cup to get perfect before it’s gone.

Kittenna

1.5 tsp/8 oz/82C/2 minutes are my parameters, and I love it that way. Longer and I find it gets too base-heavy and quickly becomes bitter.

OMGsrsly

Good tip. I have a little left, so I’ll try that!

After reading whatshesaid’s glowing review of this yesterday, I decided to try my sample. But I got greedy and filled up my 12oz timolino rather than following the directions that clearly indicated 8oz. So now I have a pale imitation of the original. Lesson learned. Tea rebellion is not the way, my friends.

But despite that, it’s still tasty. It’s nutty and slightly sweet with a whisper of nutmeg, with that similar rich mouthfeel as Cantaloupe and Cream. I’m holding off rating until I get to try it properly one day, but considering Butiki’s track record so far I’m pretty sure I won’t be disappointed.

After having the AMAZING Cantaloupe tea by Butiki I had high hopes for this tea…. I was unfortunately disappointed. It just wasn’t as sweet and flavorful as I was hoping, especially with how full-bodied and amazing the other sample was. It could have just been a bad brew, though, and I only had a 1-cup sample so I can’t retest it :( To be fair, I DO have a really bad record with green teas… It’s a good assumption that I burned/ over-steeped it, so I won’t blame Butiki! Nor will I give it a rating… I’ll stick to the Cantaloupe in the future… MMMMM…..

2nd vote for you continuing to write reviews. They tell me what I want to know as well :)

I’ll have to backtrack this weekend and review some more teas! I can’t remember some of the older ones/the ones I’ve given away, but if it’s still in my cupboard at home, I’ll get going on reviewing :) Thanks for the encouragement! I needed it!

You are very welcome : )

This is a fun tea I got from Bonnie as a sample. I don’t buy a lot of these flavored teas, so it’s a treat to try them. This one reminds me of the winter holiday season, for some reason. I detect an undertone of the deep, sweet flavors of serious, home made ice cream- nuts, caramel/vanilla. I love the nutty aroma. For me, this would be a dessert tea. I’m very happy as I drink it- maybe it’s raising my serotonin levels!

I stopped at a little French bakery after my finals review this morning and picked up some delicious macarons! I’ve NEVER tried them and have been wanting too forever just never knew where to get them and me being a baker have ALWAYS wanted to bake them. So finally I splurged!

The flavors I picked up: Pistachio, Raspberry, Lemon and Lavander.
So why not have the Pistachio one with this cup of tea!! Paired perfectly! The tea had the nuttiness of the pistachio and the macaron had the sweetness of the pistachio ice cream part. I love pistachio Ice cream and this tea did not let me down. Definitely a good idea to pair it with green tea. I loved it and thank you Shelley_ Lorraine for another amazing mystery swap choice!

I have always wanted to bake them too! I’m too nervous I’ll screw them up! They are soooo good though :)

BrewTEAlly Sweet

It’s hard to mess them up. The only thing that can go wrong is that they don’t look too cute ha ha and spread instead of rise. I’m going to try baking them next week:)

Jackie O

I tried to make them and they spread instead of rising, if anyone finds a good recipe let me know!!

I will definitely log my experience with my go at it

My very first Butiki Tea…my order of multiple Butiki Teas came just as I was leaving to catch a bus to visit my daughter at University…so I just ripped opened the box and grabbed one; I was running late and just caught my bus, but I had a thermos of Chai and my first Butiki, to be brewed with my daughter when I arrived.

It was worth the rush to grab the tea. This is a pistachio (one of my favourite things to eat) creamy tea and with a little sweetener added it is somewhat like ice cream. It reminds me a fair bit of Davids Tea “Secret Weapon”, but a milder, better version of it.

This is a nice tea but If I didn’t know it was pistachio ice cream I don’t think I’d be able to tell. It’s nutty and smooth vanilla but I dunno if I got a specifically pistachio ice cream vibe. All the same it is a good tea that is easy to drink.

Wow, what a difference time can make to one’s taste in teas. When I first had this, which was a really really long time ago (I feel so bad because I’ve recently found that drinking green teas is better to do in a shorter timeframe, as they tend to lose their freshness), I really wanted to like it, but just couldn’t get into it. The green base at that time was just too grassy, and my palate was not yet evolved.

Today, I decided to try it again and it’s quite lovely! Very smooth, a little nutty, and yes, grassy, but I can appreciate it so much better now! Yay! Glad I gave this one another shot, I will enjoy the rest of my bag! :)
