Peach Oolong

Courtney ordered this one, and before I sent it to her, she let me give myself enough for a sample. She is awesome. I only took enough for one cup, but that might not be enough.

This has such a light peach taste that works very well with the flavor of the oolong. I like that Stacy’s flavored oolongs have this subtle hint of fruitiness, so the actual taste of the tea still shines through. This is quite yummy.

I’m finishing up my second steep now, and I definitely prefer it hot. My first cup cooled off quite a bit while I was busy doing other things, and I like this warm so much better.

This is really REALLY good. The peach flavor is strong and authentic. Sweet and juicy. One of the very best peach teas I’ve tried – if not the very best! YUM!!!

The liquor is a nice yellow color. The taste was so sweet and peachy with the floral undertones. Delicious. It stood up to multiple steeps. Love love love!!!

This was a sample tea with my Butiki order. It had such great reviews here, I really wanted to try it, but I didn’t want to commit to a larger quantity. I was leery of the “floral” part in the description of the tea.

I’m afraid I don’t get much peach flavour here. It’s drinkable, but just doesn’t wow me in any way. It does taste a bit floral to me, which is likely why I’m not a big fan.

I’m not going to rate this one, as I knew before trying it that it might not be the tea for me.

I somehow lost track of this sample and re-found it again this morning and decided to finally taste it. It has a very nice peach flavor balanced by the fruity oolong. I think I would really enjoy this one even more iced!

BEST PEACH TEA EVER! This is a new cupboard essential for me. The peach flavor is superb – I picture juicy, plump peaches when I sip this. It’s a dream! I love peach tea; I used to live on the Diet Peach powder tea (I know, I know) when I was growing up. So this reminds me of summertime, sunshine, and happiness. Sigh. Wonderful! Tonight i’m drinking my Peach Oolong sample sent that came along with my Butiki Tea Order.

I’m following Butiki’s steeping instructions and infusing for 4 minutes at 180 degrees.

The small little rolled leaves smell peachy! They colors range from light green to very dark green, and there are a few twiggy stems. I’m also seeing little flower looking things. Hm..

My first infusion came out a very light golden color. Its such a nice color. Its also smells very floral. Almost like a sweet scent. The peach scent has retreated a bit, but still there. Taste time!!!

The first sip i’m going to describe with the word “juicy”. A light, sweet, floral, peachy, MMMMMMMM! Light oolongs are winning me over. This was what I needed all day. I wish I was better at describing flavors because I can’t really give this tea the praise it deserves.

The second infusion was even better because the oolongs flavor started to peek though. Sweeter, better, amazing.

I disagree with most other reviewers: although I can smell the peach in the leaf, I’m not tasting ANY peach at all in the brew. That having been said…

This is an incredibly floral smelling and tasting tea once brewed. I brewed for 2 min. (while the package said 4 min.), but I’m used to gongfu brewing with the oolongs I’ve had, so I still thought 2 min. might be too long. Not at all , as it turns out. The golden liquor smells and tastes gardenia-like, and the floral taste lingers in your mouth for a couple of minutes. This is brightly flowery with a very slightly vegetal underpinning, and not a trace of bitterness, nor any peach that I can taste. This is my kind of tea! I’m going to have to force myself to stop at one cup tonight.

Now I’m wondering if there’s any peach flavoring added at all, or if it’s just so juicy and flowery that someone decided it tasted like peaches and decided to call it that without adding any flavoring at all…? Going back to the kitchen to smell the package…tawk amongst yourselves…

I’m back. Okay. I smelled something sweet in the leaf, but now I’m doubting that it was actual peach. I think my nose interpreted the sweetness as peach because I expected to smell an artificial peach flavor. I think I’m just smelling the strong floral sweetness of the tea. It’s a different flavor than the eventual smell of the brewed tea, but really, when is that NOT the case with tea?

Weird thing though: I looked at the post-brew leaves, and saw what I think are added flowers (or just the middle of the flowers). They’re wet and don’t hold together well, but they’re kind of cream-colored and as far as I can tell are not tea. However, I can’t find these in the pre-brew leaves. Are the flowers rolled up in the tea and released in the brewing? What kind of flowers are they? Are they maybe…PEACH flowers? (Is there such a thing?)

Well, I admit to still being confused, but whatever this is, added flavors/flowers or not, it is absolutely delicious. If you don’t like flowery oolongs, this is not the tea for you, but I’m really enjoying it. Score two for Butiki (I also liked the Gyokuro sample I got from them, though I didn’t like the fact that it was completely crushed, and that there was barely enough for one cup). I think tomorrow I’ll try the Purple Pu-erh I got from them and see if we can go three for three!

First, let me mention that I am not normally an oolong drinker, but more of a wannabe oolong drinker. I really liked this, and the second steep was just as good. The peach is subtle, and the flavor of the tea is light and more crisp than the blacks I usually drink. I see a serious relationship developing between oolongs and me for the summer tea season….. And shockingly, I drank this one straght up…no sweetener!

I was afraid of this tea because I do not generally drink flavored teas. But I like oolongs and I like peach, so it was something I wanted to try. The smell in the package was very strong, this also worried me. I was afraid that I would not taste the oolong, but I was wrong. The oolong flavor was strong and the peach accented it well. I was quite impressed. I enjoyed this cup of tea a lot.
