Blueberry Key Lime

Here is my lime tea for National Mojito Day! This one is prepared cold brew, with leaf that has been steeping in my cold brew bottle overnight.

I really liked the dry leaf aroma of this tea, which had a nice sweeter blueberry scent juxtaposed with a tart citrusy scent — on the nose, the citrus aroma leaned more toward lemon than lime to me, though. Brewed, the tea has a nice red color from the hibiscus, and I’m getting a stronger lime note in the aroma, quite zesty.

In flavor, that zesty lime peel note is quite strong, with that tart/tangy bite that I personally enjoy. Getting notes of both fresh squeezed lime juice and lime zest, though toward the end of the sip the lemony flavor of the lemongrass is more prominent. While I could smell the blueberry on the dry leaf, I’m having a hard time tasting it against the zestier lime; there is a faint note late in the sip and aftertaste, but it is still too subtle. I’m really enjoying this tea (I don’t have a lot of lime teas and the lime flavor is very bright and juicy here!) though I do wish the blueberry were a bit more dominant, creating a sweeter counter-balance to the tarter citrus. On my next cold brew bottle I may try adding just a touch of sweetener to see if that helps bring out the blueberry note more. But even as “just a lime tea,” I’m really enjoying this!

Another miss haha (these have been from the past few days). I like the idea of the blend especially as it was a herbal blend but for me there was little blueberry and a whole lot of sour. ah well…always glad to try new teas!

AJRimmer Advent Day 16

I think I should have cold steeped this. It has a bit of hibiscus which I didn’t spot until it was steeped, but not an unbearable amount! I get the sour/tart on the sip with a strong citrus note, but the finish is really aromatic! That’s where the blueberry rolls in and lingers until it becomes super light and perfume like. I kinda like this one.

additional notes: Another fitting tea for Mulligan day.  I wanted to like this, so wanted to try the rest of it today.  I’m mostly tasting hibiscus, even if it IS LIGHT hibiscus.  Blueberry on the lingering aftertaste.  No lime.  I really tried to be delicate on the steeping and not let the hibiscus run things.  Slightly more lime on the second steep, but really it just seems cloying when it shouldn’t be… Ah well, I’m glad when I don’t want to stock up on everything from B&B. I guess it deserves better than a 59 rating though.

B is for…Blueberry Key Lime

At first this was more hibiscus than anything else. However, that sort of morphs into blueberry by the end of the sip. Lime is very gently lingering on half of the back of my tongue in the aftertaste. As I keep drinking, the lime comes out more.

Martin Advent Day 6
I love the cute napping cats on the bag for today. It’s interesting to try another batch of this because I found the 50g I bought this summer to be a bit too limey and herbaceous for my tastes. This one tastes the same, but I feel like I like it less now than when I first tried it since I’ve had it a bunch of times trying to use it up. Maybe cold brewing would be better. Just my personal preferences biasing me here, I’m sure a bigger lime fan would enjoy this. I really wanted to taste the blueberries more.

Huh. Apparently I haven’t wrote about this tea although I had it before. The pouch was opened, but I haven’t wrote the tasting note. Weird… but probably I wasn’t in mood writing. I just hope it wasn’t deleted (accidentaly).

Anyway, prepared grandpa with two teaspoons of the blend.
It wasn’t easy to drink it as blueberries, some lemongrass was floating on top of the brew, but I took them out with a spoon and then it was nice.

Very nice actually. As I don’t know the difference between Key Limes and “normal” limes I just thought it is just lime-blueberry tea. It works well together! Blueberries were like fresh and full of taste — I just should smash them to relase all the flavour next time, and refreshing as it was indeed lime flavoured. And that citrusy feel from lemongrass was nice too today. We had quite high temperatures (around 26 °C) which is unusal for September here.
