From Bayswater Tea Co.

A blend of Creme Brulee and Divine Temptation (both black teas) from Bayswater. I drink them this way often enough, I figured I should add them as one tea!

Steep 3-5 min, 195F (90C).

Even with the teas I received today i’m still only at 143 :) that still buys me some time to get down a bit further in my cupboard before my butiki order arrives (15+teas!)

Uhhh.. You do realize I’m bringing samples too right?

MissB 12 years ago

Heh. She’s getting even more from me in our swap. This will get fun really fast! :)

Sil 12 years ago

Yeah…I’m pretty much screwed lol the BBB box is also going to be arriving….was well as possibly a swap with CHAroma. Dexter has teas for me too….lol but hey…gotta keep working on my goals as if they can be accomplished! Halving my cupboard took patience and time! Haha

Terri HarpLady 12 years ago

Yep, there are teas headed your way from St. Louis!!
Everyone send Sil more tea! We gotta trash her numbers so she quits making me look like a sipdown slacker, Mwahahahaha!

Sil 12 years ago

you ARE a sipdown slacker…nothing you do to me will change that hahaha

TeaLady441 12 years ago

Hahahahaha. I’m with Terri! Who else can send Sil samples? I’ve got her address! :P

Terri HarpLady 12 years ago

Yeah, I don’t think I’ve had a sipdown in a few weeks.
I also haven’t counted my teas, or printed up my monthly tea collection inventory this month. I’m just too busy right now!
But I’m not too busy to drink them, & I’ll get a serious tea count by the end of the year, just in time to print up my Tea Collection Inventory on New Year’s Day! Just for the unofficial record, I suspect that I’m back up around 300+, LOL.

Sil 12 years ago

awe my post didn’t post.. what i tried to say was terri…you’ll be at 350+ with MY box that needs to come to you haha

Terri HarpLady 12 years ago

Oh well, the more tea the merrier :D

I found this hiding in the back of the cupboard when I was organizing last night, and I’m nearly out! Good thing CrowKettle and I are planning to go to Bayswater soon! :) (Anyone have any requests?)

Anyways, it was as delicious as always. Burnt sugar, sweet nougat. These teas go together SO well.

Are these teas pricy? I’ve wanted to try the divine temptation! I wasn’t a fan of the creme brûlée so much though

Cameron B. 11 years ago

I would love to try samples of these two and possibly Maple Taffy if I have anything you want to swap for! :)

OMGsrsly 11 years ago

They are very inexpensive. I think $4.50/50g? Something like that. There’s a website, but it’s not updated at all.

Sil 11 years ago

cameron – i can send you maple taffy. DT and CB that i had are going to RS though.. unless i check and there’s enough..

Dinosara 11 years ago

Hmmm I am tempted to request some Divine Temptation. Anything you want from Mariage Frères, since I will be near a store soon? Or TeeGschwendner? I would offer Theodor or Fauchon but I’m not sure what I will find from them.

OMGsrsly 11 years ago

I can totally get some, Dinosara! How much would you like? And of course I’d love to try stuff, but you don’t need to get anything specific for me – samples would be fine. Unless TeaG has the strawberry honeybush in stock, then I could go for a bunch of that. Yum yum yum.

OMGsrsly 11 years ago

Cool Sil, thanks for offering the maple taffy. I can send you the other two though, Cameron B! Definitely buying more of each. And whatshesaid, I can get you some divine temptation or just send you a sample. Your choice. :)

Dinosara 11 years ago

Awesome, I guess I would go with 50g of it. I will try to look for the strawberry honeybush at TeaG, but otherwise we can arrange something when I get back. If you’d rather me reimburse you for the tea and shipping just let me know and I will be happy to do so! Thanks!!

OMGsrsly 11 years ago

Oh, that’s fine. :) I picked up 100g extra today so I’ll send 50g to you and put the other 50g aside for a Christmas present! I’ll try to get it out to you this week, and just so you’re forewarned, I’ll probably put it in a freezer baggie with the actual packaging folded flat, just so it’ll fit into a bubble envelope.

Dinosara 11 years ago

Oh actually can you wait to send it out? I’ll be in Europe until Nov 15 so it’s probably best if the tea doesn’t sit around here. The packaging is fine. And I think you might not have my new address, so I will PM you. Thanks so much! :D

OMGsrsly 11 years ago

Ok, no problem. :) I’ll add a few samples of new stuff as well.

ohfancythat 11 years ago

Dinosara you’re so lucky to be visiting a MF!!

OMGsrsly 11 years ago

whatshesaid, I almost asked Dinosara for “a little of everything please,” but that might not work out so well. :D

Sil 11 years ago

i’m always so jealous when dinosara goes to europe.. sigh

Dinosara 11 years ago

LOL you guys. I wish European tea sellers would sell in less than 100g amounts, then I really would get a little bit of everying. I am actually most excited to find a reseller for Theodor in Brussels.

Sil 11 years ago

the du loup….oh how i miss you..

Thanks for giving me a pre-blended sample of this, OMGsrsly! I actually have both and have blended them before, but this gives me an excuse to write a review here. :p

What can I say, the two really balance each other out, especially since Divine Temptation is quite sweet on its own and Creme Brulee has a coffee bite due to the toasted hazelnuts. The two make one powerhouse of a blend.

I’m enjoying this with 2% milk today but I like it even more with half and half.

OMGsrsly 12 years ago

You’re welcome! :)

Two at once sipdown so that I can try this recommended combo! I am happy to be drinking these teas again, but sad to be sipping them down right now.

I like this blend of the two, especially since the divine temptation mellows the smokiness of the creme brûlée. However, I still love the divine temptation by itself most of all, and I may seriously have to acquire more of that tea eventually. I am a sucker for a well-done desert tea!

I know I just recently made a tasting note for this, but I feel like I needed to do another one just to jog my memory later and remind myself how much I really, really like this (memory, if you are reading this at a later date, take note!).
Each tea was really great on its own, but together they’re a total symphony in my mug…. the flavoured tea I could drink every day. :) Nutty, cookie-like, graham notes, hints of cooked caramel; I swear I can almost taste the crunchy, sugary top of some decadent dessert… It’s not sweet on its own, which I prefer in a tea….it’s just so, so perfect.
I even have a terrible headache at the moment (I don’t get headaches usually), and a period that makes me want to curl up into a ball and not unroll for three days… but, this tea is helping. It’s utter comfort!
So, I’ll go take my mug now and sit in a dark room and watch The Amazing World of Gumball with my kids….and drink this tea. :)

I love creme brulee :) I still haven’t had a creme brulee tea though.

Plunkybug 10 years ago

Yay! So happy you like these!

Plunkybug 10 years ago

The creme brûlée tea in this combo almost tastes like coffee with the burnt sugar, which is one reason this goes so well with divine temptation…it is almost like a hazelnut coffee.

Sipdown, but somehow this one wasn’t added to my Steepster cupboard so my number wont actually be decreasing; which is a little bit saddening.

I just finished watching the double eviction with Tre and it was horribly predictable and anit-climactic. I hate this whole “best for the house” and “unanimous decision” way of playing Big Brother; true big brother is not played that way. Big Moves are made, and contestants are not scared of making the decisions that further their game and voting for who they want out instead of who the HOH tells them to. By this late into the season there should be a major divide in the eviction votes, and that’s not happening. These players are scared, and it certainly doesn’t help that more than half the cast this year (and pretty well everyone remaining except Derrick) were totally unfamiliar with the show before being on it.

Ugh. I’m just disappointed right now. It’s sad that the highlight of the night was Christine getting booed when she was evicted because I couldn’t even enjoy that; the level to which she was booed? Pretty heartless. Not even Aaryn, from last season, received that negative response and she was practically evil.

Anyway, the tea. That’s what you all care about, right? Thanks VariaTEA for the sample. I think you got it from OMGsrsly right? I think this is her “custom blend” if I’m remembering that correctly. Honestly, I’ve never had either of these teas individually so together was an interesting experience. I only had a vague idea what flavour was coming from which tea.

First off, wow. I made this in my timolino and the mouth watering deliciousness of this one was shocking. I honestly had no expectation this one could come close to being that good. The most prominent, mouth watering notes in this were caramel, custard, vanilla, and sponge toffee – all of which were accented with lighter notes of mocha, chocolate, and perhaps some subtle nuttiness. Just because of the balance of flavours, I’m assuming I was picking up on the Creme Brulee more than the Divine Temptation?

Also, the black base here was SUPER smooth. Like, Mike Boogie/Dr. Will Kirby smooth. That’s a big brother reference; apologies to the non Big Brother watching Steepsterites who probably don’t get it; but I think it’s fairly witty if you do know what I’m talking about? They were basically one of the best alliances (arguably THE BEST) in American Big Brother history – in great deal because they had one of the smoothest/most seamless social games in BB history.

I think the reference kinda suffers if I have to explain it though. Oh well. Anyway; I’m crushed I’m out of this now that I know how good it is. Next mini-goal, I suppose, will be trying each of the teas in this individually?

OMGsrsly 11 years ago

Haha. I had been sending them out individually and together. I don’t have anything but the blend left, or I’d offer to send you some. :)

VariaTEA 11 years ago

Yay! Glad you liked it. Cavocorax is actually the one who shared this and I thought I passed some along cuz it’s so amazing. One of these days I hope to get a hold of more of these teas as they are amazing both individually and together.

OMGsrsly 11 years ago

(You can place an order with me, VariaTEA! I don’t mind going tea shopping for other people. ;) )

Cameron B. 11 years ago

Ooooh I want in on that! Both of these teas sound amazing! :D

OMGsrsly 11 years ago

Yep, I volunteer my services to do tea shopping in Vancouver. You can email Bayswater and order that way, but shipping can get quite expensive. Well. It can with me as well, but that’s shipping in Canada.

Sil 11 years ago

bug me later when i’m not in the middle of things… i have both separate as i mix them when i go to make it.

Daddyselephant 11 years ago

We just caught up to the double eviction today and oh my god. Christine getting booed caught us off guard, that just doesn’t happen. Even the most hated people don’t get booed. I’m so, so glad she’s gone, though!!

Roswell Strange 11 years ago

On man; her getting booed was INTENSE. And it totally wasn’t for her game either; America tastes notice to shifty personal behavior!

Daddyselephant 11 years ago

Even Julie called her on it. When asked by EW what she thought of the booing her response was “No one wants to watch a woman make a fool of her husband.” Like, dang!

I made this more than 12 hours ago in my carry mug and just remembered about it now. It is still warm so yay for efficient thermoses! I am especially happy because this is the last I have of this blend and it would have been really hard to not get to enjoy it. As it is now, I am savoring every last sip of the sweet but toasty deliciousness. I will definitely see this again because it is awesome and I will definitely miss it now that its gone. Thank you Cavocorax for sharing!! 168.

Oh no! I never tried this as a latte. Well, I guess I have to get more of it now :P

Darn! Have to shopping again!!

OMGsrsly 11 years ago

Do you want me to send you some? I got 50g each for sharing, and I don’t really need them… :)

VariaTEA 11 years ago

Hahaha I would be happy to receive more. I can send you some money or pay for shipping or both or send you teas or basically any combination if the above.

OMGsrsly 11 years ago

I’ll dole out the couple samples, and send the rest to you. :) I have a few other things here for you, but it’s not much and shouldn’t explode your cupboard too badly.

VariaTEA 11 years ago

I am excited…and scared…but mostly excited.
