From A Quarter to Tea

Apple Almond Spice Cake:
Tea of the Week 10/12-10/18

Rich nilgiri is the base for this almond-y, apple-y, cinnamon and clove-y treat! And like any good cake, little bits of butter and spun sugar notes creep in and keep you captivated. A real fall treaure!

Tea of this morning!
I was very excited to have some teas from a Quarter to Tea, and snapped up some in the Black Friday sale. However I have not got around to trying any till today.
This is very pleasant. There is a real flavor of apple, followed by a delicate cinnamon. A bit like a tea/cider hybrid. It would be fab in the autumn, but its really nice on a cold morning.

This smells like something I would make. There is mostly a scent of cloves, and some apple. The flavour is more spice and almonds. Not sure I get much in the way of cake. Still nice for the weather here. Thanks to whomever sent me the sample.

I am kinda on the fence about this one. Cinnamon and me just do not get a long in tea too well. The slightest hint and well that is all I can taste. Once I smelled the cinnamon in this tea this morning I made it with milk and rock sugar. It was pretty decent. I got lots of spice and then hints of apple. I did re-steep this one and it was very light once re-steeped. I did not get many hints of almond or cake in this. For me it was more like tea cider. Good, but not my favorite.

I feel the same way about cinnamon in tea. I haven’t tried this one yet though.

I enjoyed this one with breakfast this morning. It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it! The almond was the most noticeable flavor for me, followed by a bit of apple and a very light spiciness. I didn’t really get any cake notes, but the tea was nice and smooth and the flavors blended together well.

This was my favourite sample for A Quarter to Tea.

It smells like almonds, nuts, cinnamon and cloves. It reminds me of like a heavy spice cake.

The tea liquor is quite thick. It is also creamy. There are definitely notes of cake and bread. The black tea base is very smooth. No astringency at all. There are flavours of cinnamon and clove but they are not overpowering. I would have almost liked the clove to be a bit stronger. There is a strong nutty flavour to the tea. I am getting just the slightest hint of apple which works really well with the blend. It’s just enough, but not too much.

This tea really reminds me of Christmas/winter flavours, but I would totally drink it all the time.

Yum, this tea has a good balance of blended flavor and tea base – the apple, nuts and spices don’t drown out the nilgiri black tea base. The tea is lightly spiced and has a tasty apple flavor.
