The 2nd Tea of Christmas 2024!

This is the first “new” tea of this year’s 12 Teas of Christmas box & I love it! It starts with a single-estate, finely cut CTC Ceylon that provides a pleasant base that’s rich & smooth with very little astringency. Then I added spices (Cinnamon, Ginger, Allspice & Clove) that I crushed finely with my mortar & pestle. Then I finely shaved some nutmeg & some finely chopped vanilla bean before IRead more

Steepster 2025 TTB tea

This has nice spice notes like nutmeg and cinnamon, but I don’t get any buttery cookie or pastry notes at all.

TTB 2025 – To me, this blend does not taste like a cookie, but more like the spices that would go into a Christmas cookie. It’s somewhere in the realm of gingerbread cookie spices, but not really ginger forward. I think it’s a tasty blend, and the little snowflake sprinkles are adorable.

After a few bumps in the road (thank you Canada Post strike), my 52teas countdown arrived this week so I’ve been enjoying diving into the teas this weekend! At this point I’m just going to sip them in any order I want instead of following the countdown, and I started with this one because I was just craving something sweet but warming and it felt like it would fit the bill! I have to say that I think the snowflake sprinkles are cute, but aesthetics aside there isn’t a whole lot about this blend that makes me think of cookies. That said, I love how full bodied it is and the mix of spices is the PERFECT combination for a super iconic and wintery feeling chai. The clove and allspice in particular? Oh baby. Not too much cinnamon or ginger either, which I feel like could have made this a little too earthy and drying. So, for a sweeter chai, I think it’s very nice even if it doesn’t quite convey cookie to me.

Not getting any cookie or pastry notes, but this is such a cozy spiced blend. Mostly getting cinnamon at the forefront with some clove.

52Teas 12 Teas of Christmas: Day 2

Sipped this one on a morning drive to attend an open house that wasn’t actually happening. I misread the listing… XD

At least I had good tea en route! This is very cozy and comforting, with clove and cinnamon predominating over a bright base. I didn’t really pick up on any cookie elements, but that’s OK. Still a very seasonally appropriate blend, especially with the super festive sprinkles!

Flavors: Bright, Cinnamon, Clove

Day 2 of the 52teas advent calendar. I made this as an oat milk latte because, well, “cookie” in the name always makes me want to latte a blend. Not sure I’m getting any cookie/pastry notes, but it’s possible they’re getting drowned out by the oat milk. I am getting spices though – cinnamon, maybe a hint of clove? There’s something here that isn’t just cinnamon, and the spice blend is different than that in yesterday’s gingerbread tea. It’s got some depth and big wintry cozy vibes. The snowflake sprinkles are adorable. Very seasonally apropos. Respectable showing, but I like gingerbread a lot so I still like that blend more in the spiced-winter-tea match-up.

*The 2nd Tea of Christmas . . . *

YUM! I really love this tea. I’m not always crazy about a Ceylon base (I usually only use Ceylon in a blend with other teas to help round it out) but sometimes, a Ceylon can be wonderful. This fine chop CTC is really strong & rich in flavor for a Ceylon but it works beautifully here, offering a bold flavor that pairs really well with the vanilla bean & cookie-ish essence as well as the spices. The cute little snowflake sprinkles do relatively little to the overall flavor except to add some whimsy to the appearance – but it is – as I say – whimsical & fun.

The cup is so pleasant & cozy, the kind of cuppa that I enjoy curling up to, especially on the chilly mornings we’ve been experiencing as of late!
