17 Tasting Notes

This my first sample and tea from Teavivre. Thank you for the chance to try your teas. It will be a great help in my discovery of this world of tea.

I brewed 7g in 8oz water for 1m. It has a wonderful creamy, vegetal taste. It finishes with just a bite of bitterness (the good kind). I love this tea.

2infusion 2m, similar to the first
3infusion 3m, smoother, but still flavorful.

leaves are wonderful to look at in the glass.

This is a mellow black tea without bitterness. A slight hint of pepper and smoke and a smooth, light fruit taste

I really have little to add to what has been said. This tea is excellent. Lots of chocolate brownie the first infusion, cinnamon with the second, and a creamy citrus with the third

drank Dian Hong by Dobra Tea

This is a pretty good yunnan. I tried it at 3, 2 and 2.5 mins with the latter being the best. Not too astringent with a mellow malt to it.

drank Huang Shan Mao Feng by Dobra Tea

Ok, went with what I thought was a tsp per cup and 1m, but I’m sure I need to double both. Way too thin. I can tell there is something in there trying to get out. I won’t rate this one due to my utter lack of tea-making ability at this stage. :)

drank Ooooh Darjeeling by Adagio Teas
17 tasting notes

This tea came in an Oolong sampler.
I have little experience with oolongs and have never had a straight Darjeeling, so I was reticent to try this tea. It doesn’t remind me of the straight oolongs I have tried (all 2 of them!). It tastes like a fruity, less intense black tea. I can note what tastes like grape.
I will revisit it after I have had some experience with darjeeling. Waiting on an Upton sample.

This is a good black tea. I’m afraid that just having a sample hasn’t allowed me to get the tea/water ratio right. The first batch was too weak because I used to few pearls. This second one is better, but it still tastes like a weaker Yunnan Jig from Adagio.

I’m new to oolongs and got this from a sampler. From reading other reviews, I do notice the rock mineral taste. There are also some peach notes after it cools. Very nice.

drank Sencha Overture by Adagio Teas

First sencha. I bought a sampler and it is an ok tea. I like the salt air smell and the slight veggie taste. I gather from the reviews, there are many better senchas out there.

Profile

Bio

I am very new to tea. I began moving away from coffee because it was wrecking my nerves, but also becoming “necessary” to navigate a full life of work and grad school. I switched to Yerba mate and now am moving to strictly tea. I have found I like black tea in the morning and green or oolong the rest of the day. I’m going to try as many as I can in hopes of finding affordable everyday teas and some standouts for all day writing sessions on on the weekends.
