17 Tasting Notes
I received two bags of this in the daily level of the Green Tea Selection, and boy, what a treat! This tea is great. It’s mild and lovely, with a mellow vegetal flavour and seaweed notes – very easy drinking, steep after steep. I love it!
Flavors: Green, Seaweed, Vegetal
Preparation
I don’t know about helping you sleep, but this tea is really nice. It’s relaxing and I often turn to it on sleepless nights to calm my anxiety about not being able to sleep, not necessarily to knock me out, but you know. It’s sweet, in a kind of honey-chamomile way, with a gentle little tartness to round it out, courtesy of the apple pieces, and it is definitely soothing. It’s difficult to make out any other flavours, which is surprising considering the lengthy ingredient list, but it’s a lovely blend nonetheless.
Flavors: Apple, Honey, Sweet, Tart
Preparation
When I bought this tea, I was crazy about it. It was the best thing since sliced bread – heavily spiced, with a light maple sweetness. After taking a break from tea-drinking (think elimination diet so intense I couldn’t even use toothpaste), I really can’t understand what I saw in this tea. It’s just … meh. It’s not bad per say, but it’s nothing special. A standard, strong chai with an overarching artificial maple flavour. I’m over it and, unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be finishing my (mostly full) tin.
Flavors: Artificial, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Ginger, Maple, Pepper
Preparation
This is a really lovely, lightly spiced chai. It’s very delicate all around, with subtle hints of cinnamon and ginger rounded out with the gentle bitterness of the white tea. There’s a little lingering zing from the chilli at the very end, but it is not so hot that it’s overpowering. This tea is pretty easy drinking and it’s great on a cold day. That said, it is very expensive and I don’t think the price is quite justified – I doubt I’ll be repurchasing.
Flavors: Bitter, Cinnamon, Ginger, Spices
Preparation
I’ve never tried this tea’s namesake before, the buttermint, but I imagine this is exactly what the lolly tastes like. The mint makes it super soothing, but there is a warming vanilla-butterscotch flavour that cuts through the menthol and gives a touch of sweetness that makes it feel a little naughty. It’s a big old cup of comfort – I like this tea a lot.
Flavors: Butterscotch, Menthol, Mint, Peppermint, Sweet, Vanilla
Preparation
This smells amazing, but to drink it’s very… ehh. It’s fine – there’s nothing wrong with it per say, but the strawberry imparts an overpowering tartness that doesn’t really appeal to me. If fruity flavoured greens are your thing, you would probably like this (more power to ya), but I’m not a huge fan.
Flavors: Creamy, Fruity, Green, Strawberry, Tart
