105 Tasting Notes
I was SO excited about this tea. It would be pretty decent, except it has this kind of terrible aftertaste that I am assuming is the licorice.. It lingers on your tongue and mouth for AGES. I’ve had a pumpkin/cinnamon bagel with cream cheese and a full glass of water since drinking this, AND I CAN STILL TASTE THE LICORICE!!! WHY IS THIS A NECESSARY INGREDIENT? This tea would be really great without it. Maybe sugar/milk will disguise it? I’ll have to try.
Like other reviewers on this page, I was really disappointed by the Carrot Cake Oolong from DavidsTea… And that prompted me to try various carrot cake teas from other sellers. This is probably the 4th carrot cake tea I have tried?
This tea has a nutty, malty taste that, unsweetened, deliciously features the carrot flavor. Initially, I don’t really notice any spiciness. Once I add a bit of sugar, the spice and frosting of the carrot cake come out really nicely.
My order is in, and naturally, this is the first tea I’m trying (I was super tempted by the carrot cake one, though). I am on a never ending quest to find the perfect pumpkin tea, so I just couldn’t wait to drink this! This is also the first pumpkin flavored oolong I have ever seen, which I find really exciting!
It smells so good; it has a very true pumpkin scent, with hints of vanilla.
OMG IT TASTES AMAZING! The pumpkin is there, and it is not overpowered by other flavors. This is a huge problem I am always having with pumpkin flavored things. Too much spice, not enough pumpkin, etc. This pumpkin taste is paired very nicely with vanilla, and what is especially nice is that there isn’t any spice to this; just creamy notes of caramel and vanilla.
The darjeeling oolong is just a perfect match for this too. It is kind of toasty and chocolatey? gingery? Idk I am having a hard time pinpointing/describing what I am tasting, but it is seriously incredible!
You guys, I think I finally found my perfect pumpkin tea!
Preparation
I am drinking this because I really hate August. It seems like the hottest month of the summer. It doesn’t rain as much as it does in June and July, and even though I’m a Floridian (and we don’t get a true fall), it’s the last month standing between me and SEPTEMBER. My birth month, the start of football season, the month that pumpkin stuff starts creeping into stores… and in spite of what non-Floridians may think, there’s actually a noticeable change here. (Obviously) the days get shorter, the air smells different, and we start to get a few “cold snaps”. And even though the leaves don’t really change here, I AM OBSESSED WITH AUTUMN. Hurry up August! Get out of here!
