125 Tasting Notes
Drinking this for the first time! The scent of the unsteeped leaves is like candy. This is gonna be good…
First steep – I let my water cool a bit longer than I would normally, and I also steeped for a shorter amount of time (I was impatient). This is nice! I see what they mean when they say it has a milky/creamy mouth feel. It’s weird to describe water that way,
Novel and lovely, not sure I’m in love with it, though. Not enough to buy a tin when I could buy a cheaper oolong, for instance.
2nd Steep – hotter water this time. Liked it better on the first steep, but this is still nice. The mouthfeel continues to be smooth, and I do taste creamy notes. So odd to be describing straight tea as tasting like cream and feeling creamy.
Preparation
I’m really fond of this tea! I’m so sad it’s been discontinued. I’ve been using DavidsTea’s Mother’s Littler Helper, which is good, but not the same. The fennel/licorice root/aniseed portion gave Sleep Well an aftertaste that grew on me. I don’t normally like licorice, so that’s impressive. The rooibos also gave it a really beautiful hue.
I miss it. :( Every time I brewed it, simply smelling it cheered me up and calmed me down.
