Excellent black tea; I oversteeped again ><; however, this still came out wonderfully. It isn’t overly strong in any area but still tastes good; it isn’t too smooth or too astringent, isn’t too bitter or sweet, etc. I prefer flavored teas so that is the only reason it doesn’t score higher for me.

This is a nice tea; it has a soft and floral flavor. If you like rose blended teas, I’d recommend trying this one.

drank Decaf Momo by Lupicia

Overall, this is okay. If you need to avoid caffeine; this is a good tea.

Similar to the normal Momo but some of the flavors are a bit muted; not as tangy and no sharpness.

It tastes like I’m smelling japanese peach gum – yes you read that right, haha. Specifically, Marukawa peach gum (tattoo type). When I am drinking this tea, it has the faint taste of powdered peach flavor that you would smell on this particular gum. It’s nice and nostalgic for me but every time I take a sip, I feel like I want to eat the gum and all I’m allowed is to smell it.

It isn’t a bad tea, I just feel like I want more from it – due to my experience with the aforementioned gum.

drank La Belle Epoque by Lupicia

Interesting blend; I can taste the darjeeling with hints of other leaves. This is a smooth, lightly warm-sweet tea.

2017 Note: Lupicia also has a special premium line of their teas under the umbrella term “La Belle Epoque”. When I was visiting Japan, I was not able to find Emerald Earl Grey because it is now part of the La Belle Epoque line and only one of their branches carry this line (Jiyugaoka branch). You can order this special line of teas on the Japanese Lupicia website but they only ship to Japanese addresses.

drank Fit & Fruit by Ronnefeldt Tea

I think I oversteeped this a bit; the hibiscus is overpowering the other fruit flavors. Fortunately, I am able to tell the difference with their Red Berries tea. This definitely has an apple and cinnamon flavor to it, the other fruits are much more subtle. This is great if you need a little variation in Ronnefeldt’s fruit tea line.

If you’ve tried Ronnefeldt’s “Red Berries” tea; this is very similar.

Sweet and tart; however not as strong as the red berries tea. I would drink this in lieu of dessert. I love tartness so it isn’t too bad, but I imagine most people would probably want to add sugar or use this as a base for an iced drink.

2nd tasting of this tea and I think I steeped for 5+ minutes; although stronger, it is still very smooth! The subtle floral and blueberry flavors are still there but not as noticeable this time around; this might be because I over-steeped or because I just ate some funyuns. Will have to make another note later.

Very smooth rooibos tea. One of the flavors, perhaps the cornflower blossoms is leaving an aftertaste reminiscent of cough syrup aftertaste. After 5 sips or so, that aftertaste goes away and you have a very cozy tea.

This Earl Grey is a bit stronger than the non-white collection version.

I don’t know if it is because I have a large bag of this in loose leaf form compared to the leafcup version but it smells fresher and much more intense than the leafcup before prepartion.

Although the black tea is stronger, it isn’t overly bitter. The bergamot and flavoring is very controlled; doesn’t overpower the tea.

A cloth sachet?! wow, that is a first for me.

The bergamot and blueberry flowers are very subtle leaving the natural flavor of the tea intact. Smooth and Sweet black tea with a hint of floral seem to be the dominant flavors here. Very nice tea.

I just ate some Pocky Squeeze before drinking this, so I’ll try to leave another note or edit this one later.

Bio

I don’t have a sensitive palate but I do tend to shy away from harsh and bitter flavors. For instance, I can’t stand raw celery and olives – the smell/taste is way too intense. I find coffee to be too muddy/earthy, tea is light and crisp.

I find plain, black tea to be either too bitter or a bit too bland – unless I’m adding cream and sugar. I love flavored black teas; flavored rooibos is great as an evening drink; and light, grassy green teas are wonderful. Oolong and Pu-erh teas are good too but haven’t had as much exposure to them. White teas I’m still on the fence – one day I hope I’ll find one that I’ll like. I don’t like the spiced teas (e.g. chai)

My Grading Scale:
80-100 – Excellent Teas. These are the Teas I crave all the time, even when trying out new teas.

60-79 – Good Teas. I drink these occasionally.

50-59 – Passing Grade. These are worth a try again

Below 50 – Would not recommend, and probably will never try again
