Beautiful orangy color. Smalls like a perfectly balanced black tea blend. Tastes so too. A bit of sweetness, a bit of bitterness and a bit of smokeyness. Smooth and gentle yet very flavored. And the flavor last for a while. It’s a delicious one.

I’ve never tried honeybush tea before. I can see why they called it honey-bush. It has a sweet honey note to it. Very drinkable. Quite exquisite mild taste. Reminds me of something that i can’t quite define.

Now a bit of education:
“Honeybush tea is made as a simple herbal infusion. One of its early recognized benefits as a tea substitute is its lack of caffeine, which makes it especially suited for nighttime consumption and for those who experience nervousness and want to avoid ordinary tea. As a result, it had a reputation as a calming beverage, though it may not have any specific sedative properties.”
“The tea can be consumed daily, or can be rotated with other beverage teas, such as Rooibos and ordinary tea. For treatment of coughs, or as an aid in regulating blood sugar in diabetes, or helping reduce menopausal symptoms, the tea would be taken several times per day.”

Very dark leaves. They smell too yummy. Like fresh grass plus yummy hot roast chestnuts. Smells like winter. And funny enough today the cold weather has started here. This could easily be the best smelling tea leaves till now.

But lets see how it tastes :)

Tea is bright yellow. Smells similar to the leaves.

Mmmmm first impression is full roast taste. Smooth, nutty, roasty. It didn’t wow me but it’s quite a good one.

Leaves smells sweet, flowery. They look a fit lighter than usually.

Tea also smells floral. Tastes the same. Gentle. Tasty.

Leaves are dark green, they smell raster fresh grassy.

Tea is very light yellow. Also smells grassy.
Surprise, surprise, it tastes very grassy! It’s quite delicious. First sip seamed a bit watery but I changed my mind with the second one. It’s just as smooth as it should be. It only has a hint of nutty taste, mostly grassy tho. More green that oolongy.

(sipping further)

Leaves a really nice aftertaste in my mouth. Mhm, I like this one…

What I like about Yogi Tea’s is the little messages that come with every bag.
What I don’t like is too much spices, and barely any traces of actual tea flavor. But then again I guess that Aztecs didn’t make their potions with tea ;)

So the little message is:
“The mind is given to you, you are not given to the mind.”

My mind would disagree :)

So, on to this tea. I remember only not liking any of their spiced teas, I only find the morning green one ok.
Idk whats the color of this tea. This cup is black inside. I’m guessing brownish.
It does smell like chocolate, doesn’t taste like it. Well only in cacao hints perhaps. What I really do taste is liquorice. I can eat that only in candy shape. This way it ruined the tea. Kinda like hibiscus does it to teas.

So conclusion, it’s not yucky, it’s drinkable, but it’s not smooth and not well balanced with flavors. Choco tea should be smooth and creamy. Makes me wanna go make myself a cup of hot cocoa.
