762 Tasting Notes
Brewed a pot of this to start my morning. This used to be my #1 favorite black tea. I still like it. It’s smooth and mellow, but I wonder if I’m getting spoiled by the more expensive loose leaf teas? None the less, 20 bags for $4.00 is a darned good price for a good tea.
Brewed up a pot of this tonight to help me get through writing the big love scene. It was nummy as always, but the love scene still isn’t finished. Darn. Better try another pot of something else.
I wanted something herbal to drink in the evenings and as I was out of David’s Tea Peppermint Amore, I bought a box of this. I think Twinings has decent tea for a decent price, and that’s what this one is: a decent tea for a decent price. And sometimes it’s nice to use tea bags. So although there are better mint teas out there, I can recommend this one
Preparation
I ordered this when several teas became available at Whispering Pines again a few weeks ago. I read so many glowing reviews of this tea that I was almost afraid to try it and find I didn’t like it. But I did! This tea was mild, smooth, and slightly sweet on its own. No bitterness whatsoever, no sour notes, no astringency. Just a beautiful dessert tea that I look forward to drinking again. Lovely tea!
Preparation
My package from Whispering Pines arrived today! I decided to try this one immediately as it’s a bit nippy in my apartment and I’m having a HELLISH day at work. This was great as a pick me up. As always, I can’t taste any particular flavor, but this tea strikes me as bold. Some teas seem weak or bitter no matter how you brew them. This one is just right, with a bit of something lingering in the corners of my mouth. I’m going to try a second steep and see how I like that.
ETA: Second steep was even better!
Preparation
Yesterday a friend from Winnipeg gifted me another 100 grams of this tea. Good thing, too, as I am almost out. Brewed up a pot this morning (of the new tin—I couldn’t resist!) and it is just as good as always. I really love this tea. If David’s discontinues it I will go crazy!
I picked up a tin of this at Whole Foods while visiting Minneapolis this weekend. We left around 8:pm and I arrived home in Fargo a little after midnight. The drive was cold. My apartment is cold. I am cold. So once I got a few things unloaded and put away I brewed a cup of this.
I wasn’t actually expecting much. I haven’t heard of Zhena’s, and generally I’m not a fan of bags in tins, but I wanted to buy a souvenir tea, and this looked like the best I saw on the shelf. This tea, however, is enjoyable. First of all, it’s warming, and not just because the temperature is hot. The spices are warming. It makes me feel cozy to hold the mug and sip this tea while waiting for the heat to come on. I won’t buy this one again, but i’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
One of my favorite by Twinings but yeah, it pales in comparison to the good stuff.
It’s still a decent tea, and since it’s in individually wrapped bags, it’s convenient for travel. But it doesn’t really compare to the teas I found recently.
