7 Tasting Notes
The smell of warmed leaves in the gaiwan give a raisin aroma while also looking like raisins in appearance (the tight and small dark leaves). The wash and first steeping produced an altumnal orange colored liquor with a peachy taste. The third steeping was fantastic yielding a more complex flavor profile rounding out with a buttery and milky finish while also mai ting the subtle notes of peach. I haven’t finished brewing but it’s an excellent day drinker !!

Wow!! I was excited to try this tea — and it proved to be excellent!! The first several steepings which I steeped for 5 seconds + 5 every steep opened like a white tea in some ways— the taste of honey and vanilla was very strong and the aroma was wonderful very sweet—reminded me of a a berry hookah—the tea liquor was varying hues of gold from a bold gold to darker hue as I steeped on— the later steepings became to taste more of that Black tea floral/sweetness—more of a dry feeling on the tongue—overall a tea that I could steep and steep and steep and enjoy each time I sip!! Highly recommend !!
PS- my scrolls for the brew time and temp are wonky so I will say here I had my water at boiling which at my elevation here in Colorado is at 205 degrees F! And so far I’ve steeped the tea in 5s + 5s more per steep 10 times; it’s on its way out but I’m thinking I can get a few more solid steeps out of it!! I do not feel yea drunk at all or jittery which happens to me with some teas— I just feel awake and clear!

This is the first time drinking this tea! When I warmed the leaves in the gaiwan without waster the leaves had a fruity, nutty, and toasty aroma. I did a 10 s wash and the first steeping was for 10 s at 194 degrees F. The tea liquor was golden as I outed and had a dark golden / reddish hue. I had tea foam from the tea wash and first two pours. When I smelled the leaves after the wash and first steeping the leaves had a citrus aroma. I can’t help but say as I steeped in the tea leaves had a fruity pebble aroma to them. The tea was warm, toasty, sweet sometimes on the inhale. Overall a fun and complex yummy brew. Can’t wait to try again!

As recommended I started with very short steep time, 15 s for 5G of tea in my smaller gaiwan. I rinsed the tea once and poured myself a cup after the initial steep, as I was curious about all of the comments on this teas depth and intensity. The bite and after taste was one of earthy smokiness, that I quite enjoyed. The first five or so steeps were done in short bursts and had the lingering Smokey taste but with more and more sweeter notes presenting themselves as I steeped On. At the 6th or so steep there is little to no stringency and smoky flavor, it is all but gone now, and tastes mostly sweet and soft.

I used about 5G of tea for my first tasting of this without washing it. I steeped initially for 5 s and added between 5 to 10 s per steep. This is mouthwatering it is so very light and refreshing. Notes of floral and sweetness. Absolutely delicious—a fan fave on my end !!
As I steeped in the floral taste dissipates and rounds out to become a deeper, richer and more full bodied taste of Black tea. Still very delicious—gets more complex the more I steep!!
Flavors: Floral, Sugarcane, Summer, Sweet
Preparation
This is a delightful tea. It hits piney with a slight sour/pucker at the end. The cup smells of juicy berries though I do not get the taste in the tea. As I steeped on, 3rd and 4th steeps, the tea grew smoother and rounded out. Weird but I like it.
Flavors: Pine, Sour, Stonefruit
I can see where folks say it has an oily mouth feel at the end of the tasting note but I still think personally it’s a great tea. Everyone’s taste buds are different and that’s a beautiful thang! :)
