199 Tasting Notes
I was way too excited to try this tea last night.. Probably because snickerdoodles are my favorite cookie ever :P I love the warm, gooey, mostly-baked kind. I don’t do crunchy cookies..
Anyway. My expectations were high… and this tea did not meet them. Does it taste like cinnamon? Yes. Is it sweet? Yes. Does it taste like a cookie? No.
It tastes like the mulling spices that I put in my apple cider. How does a snickerdoodle taste anything like apple cider sans apples? While the tea is “good” flavor-wise, I can’t be excited about it since it doesn’t taste like a cookie that Mom would make.

Thanks to Wymm Tea for this sample :)
Okay, I love it. I might not be perfect with my puerh steeping and my palette isn’t trained to taste all the notes beyond the “sheng” taste, but this is calming tea with a nice thickness and sweetness. Of course, I’m using a makeshift setup since I don’t have a gaiwan or equivalent vessel, so I have a regular strainer inside a cup because if I put it in a teapot, the water doesn’t really cover the leaves enough to get a good steep! sigh
I steeped in 185 degree water (100ml) for 5,5,5,10, then increments of 5, then increments of 10 after 30 seconds.
Flavors: Creamy, Sweet

I had this again this morning.. Got some more sleep so I actually brewed it correctly :P
I did a 1min steep, increasing by 30 seconds for subsequent steeps.
The taste is very clean and roasted with notes of raisins and earth. I upped the rating to reflect how I feel about the tea today :)
Flavors: Earth, Mineral, Raisins, Roasted

I also chose this tea to bring to work today, I guess I was feeling dark this morning with some shou, wuyi oolong, and black darjeeling. I’m not really feeling it though after I steeped it lol. It’s very good, but I should have brought a green to work!
Overall, a nice darjeeling with some subtle sweetness and a slight fruit note (cherry maybe?). I’ll definitely drink this again when I’m feeling like drinking a black!
Flavors: Fruity, Sweet
Preparation
Overall, a very nice and mineral-y oolong. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted to, but I’m also at work and had a crazy morning, so it was only slightly warm when I got to drink it. Very clean tasting, but it was also kinda heavy. Tastes of earth, raisins, and roasty goodness. I think I have another wuyi that’s not quite as oxidized, so that might be the taste difference that I’m experiencing.
Flavors: Earth, Raisins, Roasted

Started my day off with this tea and used it to distract myself during a meeting.. Pretending I’m paying attention while writing a tasting note in my head :P
I got this as a sample from Teavivre, so thank you!
Very interesting to get some loose pu in a bag. It said to steep for up to 12 minutes, so I opted for 8 minutes and it was quite strong. Very dark color (obviously, since it’s a shou) and has a creamy and woody flavor – definitely a lot of rice flavor. Maybe a hint of fruit, but it’s a very rich shou. Because of my steeping situation at work, I couldn’t really rinse it, so I don’t know if that would have made a difference on such a long steep. Overall, pretty good and very convenient for making pu on the go.
Flavors: Rice

This sample was a part of the Republic of Tea catalog that I received..
First of all, I hate coffee. I don’t like the smell or the taste of it.. When I brewed this tea, I kept thinking that there’s something oddly familiar about this.. Almost breakfast-like in smell. I’ve decided that it smells like a vanilla and maple syrup coffee (if there is such a thing). It’s basically breakfast in a cup for a lot of people.
I started drinking it and it was okay, but eventually the coffee taste caught up to me and I just can’t drink it anymore. There is a slight grassy taste to it, presumably from the dandelion, but I just can’t get past the coffee.
Flavors: Coffee, Grass, Maple Syrup, Vanilla

I’m too tired for this, but I think that Marzipan sent this to me. Thanks!
I tried this tea this morning, since I didn’t want to deal with steeping “real” tea.. I like blood orange and cranberry, so I thought this was a good way to start the day. I really didn’t get any “black tea” taste from this tea. The cranberry is more pronounced than the orange flavor, but both flavors are there. It’s a good combination. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy more, but it’s a pretty good teabag tea.
Flavors: Blood Orange, Cranberry
Preparation
Drank this tea at 1:30AM since I couldn’t sleep last night.. My tastebuds may not have been awake, but here goes.
I brewed this at 175 degrees for 2 minutes. It comes out as a very light greenish-yellow color and smells very vegetal. The taste is only slightly vegetal, but has a lot of nutty flavors. I don’t generally like nuts, but this tastes like water chestnuts. I thought it kinda tasted like unsalted pistachios at first, but I think it’s more like those canned water chestnuts that people eat for some reason..
Anyway, I’ll steep this one again tonight if I can stay awake long enough. Overall, a good tea, but not my cup of tea due to the overly nutty flavor.
The second steep of this (2.5 min) was much more smooth and didn’t have the powerful nut notes. I enjoyed the second steep a whole lot more :)
Flavors: Chestnut, Vegetal
Preparation
This was a pretty good flavored green tea from Design A Tea. When I ordered from them, I opted for single flavor teas and I like pomegranate. I thought the green tea flavor didn’t overpower the pomegranate taste. It tasted very natural, unlike some other flavored teas I’ve tried where the whole thing comes across as artificial.
Aw, what a bummer!
wasn’t a fan of this myself
Nothing will ever beat, let alone match Mom’s baked goods – sorry the tea was a bummer. I wasn’t a fan of it either… but then again I don’t enjoy the cookies :/
