So, as a tea newbie, I want to tell my story about these pearls. First of all, I am a complete genius because I figured that I could just dump the little pearls in my cup without a strainer or tea ball. Not really realizing that these balls unfurl and they look like normal tea afterwards, so in fear of an acid cup, I quickly went to work with a plastic spoon to fish the little pearl bits out. I was not entirely successful as I have a collection of leaves at the bottom of my cup. Oh well.

It smells delicious, like honey, jasmine and honeysuckle. It produces an amber cup. I obviously steeped for way too long so there’s a bit of an odd dry taste at the end of the sip, but overall it’s quite pleasant. I think next time, I’ll try 1 pearl in my standard ball strainer because they expand! And also, it’s much more economical as these babies are expensive (thankfully purchased on sale but god forbid I go through my 100grams and need more).

Nearly as good as the DavidsTea Pineapple Oolong but it is a bit lighter. One thing I really like (that some people won’t) is that it doesn’t taste at all like green tea. I did the first steeping for 2 minutes, the 2nd for 3 minutes and it even lasted a 3rd that I kept in there for… awhile. Each time it was a nice balanced flavor and a smooth ending.

I did add sweetener for the first two cups which really brings out the pineapple flavor.

Nice light guava and strawberry flavor. I don’t get the ginger which is good because I tend to stay away from strong, peppery or zingy flavors in my white teas. Can see myself easily using up this 1oz tin. I’ll have no problem sipping this one hot but I’ll definitely try it iced.

I’m trying to get into black teas and I found this one on sale at the grocery store so I thought I’d give it a try. It’s mild. I added a dash of milk and some sweetener and it’s nice. Pretty unoffensive. I only steeped for 2 minutes since I didn’t want it super strong. A good one to keep at the office as it’s bagged.

I’m really starting to like this one. Unfortunately, I’m halfway done with my 2nd sample sachet and then I’m out. My office has been freezing during the summer and I have constant allergies so a nice mug of hot tea is lovely especially when it tastes like dried and sweetened pineapple. I used half the leaves for this mug as I used the full 5gram sample for the last one and it’s just as tasty.

I recently discovered loose leaf tea and am already addicted (much to my husband’s dismay)! I prefer fruity teas iced and savory teas hot. Looking forward to drinking and chatting.

Some likes/dislikes I’ve been noticing:

Likes:
Pineapple
Jasmine
Fruity White Teas
lighters Blacks
Most Oolongs (especially greener varieties)
dessert teas
tisanes iced that don’t require added sweetener

Dislikes:
Spicy flavors unless in chai
astringent black teas
heavy ginger teas
teas with licorice (as primary ingredients – somehow I like some where the licorice is in the back drop)
heavily oxidized oolongs

For my own reference, I’m only placing “full size” teas in my cupboard.
