ugh I need to buy me some tea tins!!! The thing is, I keep very few teas in large enough quantities to warrant a standard size, and small tins are difficult to find. Does anyone know of a place that sells tins which can hold 25-50g?
This tea, one of my oldest, is losing it’s flavour. I’ve kept it in the paper bag it comes with, for lack of any suitable alternative. Sad, but true. It’s pretty much just a simple rooibos now with some distant orange flavouring… even the swirls of agave I added gave it very little oomph. Oh well, all good things must end eventually! Now on to find a new rooibos to love. I was getting bored with this one anyhow. (It’ not goodbye just yet! I have atleast two more cups worth)

I was going to recommend the little containers at Cost Plus World Market, but I see you’re in Canada and I don’t think they have those stores there. You might try just checking out kitchen supply shops or big stores like Target. Airtight spice containers are a good bet if you can’t find anything specifically for tea.

Ikea! C’mon, that’s a no brainer ;)

haha true. Though I keep coming up with tea things that I could use and then remember I have neither the space nor budget for them. If I find a good deal I’ll break down and buy them but otherwise… I’ll have to wait til September!

LiberTEAS

I recommend Specialty Bottle. They have tins of all sizes and great prices: http://www.specialtybottle.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=33

Ikea is our downfall. We live a whole 5 minutes from one…daaaangerous. I love it thought.

Harney and Sons will sell their mini tins for sixty cents each. I buy ten at a time. It is the baby tin that fits in their tea chest and holds about one or two ounces. Also, the craft stores sell wedding favor tins and with the ubiquitous forty per cent off coupon, they are also reasonable.

Indigobloom

Harney would likely involve me ordering tea… plus shipping. but wedding tins, hmmm! not a bad idea, thanks Ashmanra!!

Indigobloom

the specialty tea tins look awesome to!! but I’ll look locally first, and save that as a back up. thx Liberteas :)

I think the wedding tins are usually sold in packs of twenty and they often have a clear top. I was going to use my scallop circle punch to make labels for the tin, thus eliminating light at the same time.

What about the ones for spices that are magnetic and could hang on the wall. You could make labels to cover the glass top. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80102919 Or get some metal jars a a knife holder magnetic strip.

Daddyselephant

I’ve got some of those, be warned, they fall open pretty easily.

Indigobloom

eek, tea all over the place! that would be no fun to clean up haha. Ah Ikea… I <3 that place. and it likes my wallet a little too much!!

Let’s see… I’m a tea and workout fanatic, I work in HR, and most of my friends consider me to be an egg. White on the outside, Asian on the inside :)
-from philosophy to food, I love it all
Otherwise, what you see is what you get! I can be very straightforward and yet shy.

Also, I’ve started taking tea sommelier classes and it is an absolute blast! Well, so far I’ve only finished the first out of eight courses, but I am really looking forward to the next one.

Anyhow, if your curious as to how I rate things, this is how I work…

0-25
Like eating dirt, or some other unsanitary indelicacy that mentioning in my profile here would likely get me banned.
I don’t think I’ve found cause to banish a tea to the wasteland yet though so who knows what it’d inspire ;P

25-50
You know that expression “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater”? I imagine drinking that water would be terrible enough to warrant this rating!
I’d never make my enemy drink this, but perhaps I’d throw it at them. Good thing I don’t have any enemies!

50-70
This is “tea”?? I tried finishing the cup… but my body rejected it. There may be others who enjoy this tea, but it’s beyond me!

70-80
I tried liking it, and I can almost get there! I certainly don’t hate it, but something is holding me back. Allergies? Men in white suits? who knows… certainly not me!

80-90
Lovely tea! Not my all time fave but close. I likely wouldn’t repurchase, but may decide to based on many factors: price, accessibility, whether it fills a “tea gap”, medicinal applications, and how often I crave it.
Every once in awhile I find the sweet spot that bumps these up to 90+. Those are the days I need to buy a lotto ticket!

90-95
Sweet Camellia! this is realllly good tea! Don’t talk to me until I’ve finished my cup…

95-100
Tea of the gods. I would do anything to get my hands on more of this liquid gold!
