This is the first and only “creme” earl grey that I’ve tried. I’m not sure what exactly gives it that creamy taste (vanilla?), but it’s certainly there when compared to the regular earl greys I’ve had. I find that this is a gentler flavor for first thing in the morning whereas regular earl grey can feel a bit too acidic. There’s a definite floral note, but it’s not overpowering. And the amount of bergamot was just right for my taste.
I noticed a number of other reviewers noted that this tea is best as a “mixer” with other teas. My earl grey palate must be unrefined because I think it’s good the way it is, but I do see that it could be complimented nicely by a tea with stronger vanilla notes.
