Needed something decaf, and it was either this or Xiao’s Blend by Peet’s… Might have to go back to drinking the latter.

I picked up this tea at the grocery store after I was done at the thrift store. (I actually found a really pretty bone China tea cup and a gold colored framed photo of a tea cup and it said “tea time.” How cute is that?!) Sorry back to my tasting note! ;) This was my first time trying a tea from Good Earth! I love how it smelled while it was steeping! So refreshing! I loved how well I could taste the lemongrass! It has a light sweetness to it that is really enjoyable! I can’t wait to try more teas from Good Earth because I really loved this one! ♥

drank Vanilla Chai by Good Earth Teas
5 tasting notes

Although I enjoyed this tea, I would say it doesn’t taste any different than other boxed commercial chai teas. The spice is a little artificial and I really tasted no vanilla at all. In truth it’s a place holder until my premium loose teas come in the mail :)

One of my favorite caffeine free teas. DON’T oversteep this one. It tastes very spicy, but over steep it and you will feel like you are drinking liquid cinnamon. Not in a good way. So sweet no sugar is necessary.

I picked this up on a whim last week. I don’t mind the occasional ‘fruity’ tea, while I prefer spicy, and I like mangos. That said I found the artificial mango flavor and scent completely overwhelming. I could barely finish the cup. I actually feel guilty, but I’m going to throw the rest of the box in the trash.

When it comes to me and tea, the spicier the better. One of my favorite parts of my workday is opening my desk drawer to be greeting with the smell of cinnamon. I could conceivably just sit and sniff the bag all morning. This is my all day, every day staple. I am finding, however, that since I discovered loose tea all bagged teas taste a little artificial to me. Oh well, no matter. Not as delicious as some of the loose cinnamon teas I’ve tried, but definitely still my go-to at work where loose is not currently an option.

This is my go-to green tea. If I can’t find it, I go without. For a store-bought tea, this is my favorite tea with it’s mild, soothing aroma of jasmine flowers and light taste that needs no sweetener.

This is my one exception (so far) to my no mint policy. It is extremely strong, and tastes of sweet cinnamon and peppermint. There are other flavours, but they tend to become overpowered the way I drink this tea. I brew it in a thermos (just leave the tea bag in there for hours) when I go hiking or snowshoeing, as it’s a perfect pick-me-up after being out in the cold for a couple hours. Yum!

I have to change my original rating. The more I sipped this tea the less I liked it. While looking at the teas that Walmart carries, my eyes were drawn to this tea. Thought I’d give it a shot. You win some; you lose some. This was a loss.

Smells delicious, but I feel that it’s quite strong. I usually add milk and honey to sweeten it up.

drank Sweet and Spicy by Good Earth Teas

I don’t know from tea, but this is all right. It’s sweet…real sweet. I admit, I love sweet drinks but hate the lingering sour taste of sugar. This tea neatly sidesteps that by being perfectly sweet with no harshness afterward. The spice feels like one apple-juice-steeping away from Christmastime.

Don’t drink the stuff in the bottom. Yow!

Hi, Steepster was down all day for me and now, here you are, a new person with laser-eyes and ADD. I don’t have ADD but it feels like it sometimes. My brain doesn’t work quite right all the time processing info. Anyway, tea really has helped me! I hope you stick with this adventure. There’s more to it than you think…more than flavors and water. The people on steepster are very kind and friendly, willing to answer questions and help.

Thank you Bonnie! My lovely friend Claire told me you were one to follow, and she is never ever wrong about anything. I’m looking forward to drinking lots and lots of tea and maybe boiling some with my laser-eyes, and I would like most to taste all the good flavors, because I’ve been drinking much too much coffee for the last few years. I could use a little palate cultivation. And subtlety.

It’s an anti-depressant and has other qualities that are cool. Sometimes there is a sense of well being, called being tea drunk (but not really drunk) that’s good for you. Ask Claire. She was drinking some of my favorite tea tonight from Verdant.

Complex, spicy and sweet, this stuff is great. While it doesn’t carry the same heaviness as other traditional black teas do, don’t be mistaken into thinking it’s weak, because it certainly isn’t!

I tend to avoid most green teas because of the “grassy” taste but this one actually is pretty tasty! The lemongrass adds a nice touch, and I’ve found myself not even needing to add sugar to it, a rarity for me.

Like with my not so great experiences with Green teas, I tried Chai years ago once or twice. (I remember at least one of those times was a cold one…Starbucks or Borders Cafe.) I did not care for it. I suspect now that it was because I did not have the palate to appreciate it. Now, generally speaking for a bagged tea, Good Earth seems like a decent company. unbleached tea bags, no over emphasizing health qualities, (which is not an automatic turn off for me, but still.) This flavor: I am extremely picky about my vanilla. Imitation doesn’t bother me, as long as it doesn’t taste like imitation. And balance of flavor is also important, if there is more then one. I do not like notes that only hit at the last minute. I do like the Original Spicy, but I found the cinnamon to be almost too intense. So, the vanilla smooths that out for me, but I still feel the kick of the cinnamon. I think next time I will try steeping it for 7 minutes, to see how it comes out.

Another tidbit that was included in the sampler from KeenTeaThyme. The dry bag smells very strongly of cinnamon. I am instantly reminded of winter and Christmas time with my grandparents, even though I’ve never had this tea.

The taste is very mild on the actual black tea aspect. It just tastes like straight up cinnamon and anise. My mouth literally tingles with the combination. It’s very flavorful and interesting, but not really what I’m into. Especially in the summer. But I can imagine this might be nice on a gray, icy day.

I think even the most sophisticated of tea drinkers (which I do not claim to be) have their guilty-pleasure bagged tea. This one is mine. It is easy to make, easy to drink, easy to rest your thoughts on. It demands nothing of you, other than a high tolerance for cinnamon, and will sit contentedly on your shelf for years at a time without loosing anything.

I think that Good Earth was the first tea that converted me to a devoted tea drinker, over 7 years ago. I’ve sipped it now and again since, and none of the nostalgia has worn off. Reached for it this morning because I’ve been on a “serious tea” binge and needed something a little easier, with more of an emotional connection and less of an intellectual tasting. However, I left the tea bag unattended and it turned out slightly medicinal tasting.

No matter the actual quality, I know that this is a tea I’ll return to so long as Good Earth keeps making it.

A smell of strong, fresh berries greeted my nose as I ripped open the protective sachet to prepare the brew.
This cup is going to be enjoyed whilst watching football (soccer to some of you).

Colour: Deeply dark purple.
Smell: Berrytastic.

Super strong, sweet and fruity. I can taste the apple firstly which comes through quite sourly and then berries come marching in behind it with sweetness. It’s alright over all but I was hoping this one would be a little more delicate and not so much of a mixed fruit punch. Blueberry is what it’s called and blueberry is what I wanted to taste. Maybe a better name would be ‘Sour apple with mixed berries’. I keep being reminded of sweets today

When I was on campus a few hours ago, I was in a common room with a couple TVs minding my own business when I noticed the room was starting to fill up. And then I noticed there was a soccer game playing. Sigh. Was it some important game today? All I caught was that Portugal was playing.

KittyLovesTea

It was a fairly important game, Euro 2012 games (European games come one every 4 years). The Portugal against Czech match was a quarter final. There are still a good few matches to go yet too.

Kittenna

Ahh, gotcha. I only really follow Canadian football, and may not even do that this year, so I’m always having to figure out what important sporting event is causing a large crowd!

A good basic green tea, with the side benefit of being decaf, so I can have it while I unwind before bed!

This tea not only smells fantastic, but it tastes great, too – the fruit flavors are there, but not enough to overpower the tea.
