5 Tasting Notes
I got a pouch of this for Christmas this year – really enjoyed it! I could probably do without, or less of, the white chocolate (I noticed an oily film on the surface of the tea, hoping that it’s from the chocolate melting!), but I finished the pouch off fairly quickly. Definitely one I’d buy again!
I like this well enough, but it’s not nearly as creamy as I was hoping it would be. I thought that maybe the salesperson gave me regular earl grey instead of earl grey creme, but there is a bit of a vanilla-like smell there. I’ll try it against a different earl grey cream and see how it stacks up =)
I recently bought a tin of this, but it must have been old stock – I didn’t smell or taste any rose, it was just kind of a flat black tea. The smell was so absent that I almost thought “Rose” was actually part of the brand name. I’ve since found a black rose tea that I really like, but it’s not nearly as cheap as this was (around $5 for the tin!) Because of the positive reviews here I’ll give it another try – maybe it’ll be better if I use tea that’s buried deeper in the tin, haha
Preparation
This is my favourite earl grey cream so far! I prefer this to Teavana’s earl grey creme, which almost tastes like regular earl grey to me (at least when compared to this one). I recently ordered some earl grey creme from another place, so I’ll see how it compares.
I went into a Ten Ren shop looking for a black rose tea, and ended up with this one instead =) I’m not usually a fan of grapefruit (the actual fruit, never mind as a flavour in tea) but it goes really well with the blueberry – adds a bit of a tangy flavour. I haven’t had it clear yet, but with milk it’s really nice. A touch of sugar might bring the fruit flavour out more, I might try it that way next time.
