drank Gold Rush by DAVIDsTEA

Last of the first bag I bought, debating whether to add it to my already extensive shopping list. My local DAVIDs was out of this when I went last, I hope they got more and that this wasn’t just a tea of the month but a permanent option!
The last few times that I’ve had this one I haven’t been nearly as impressed as my first try. I find the flavour very inconsistent depending on the proportion of mulberries to white tea to coconut, and haven’t gotten that proportion right since my first try apparently…
Its still very yummy and caramel-y. but I’ve been missing the magic that I thought I tasted the first time I tried it… Thus the re-buy debate…

Yeah, I haven’t repurchased it yet either. Indecisive – it was wonderful the first time I tried it, and I’m not sure I liked it as much the second.

My second cold brewing experiment, and another success. The second tea from the Iced Tea Party Collection from Teaopia that I got for Easter. Cold steeped for about 15 hours, about 8 tablespoons.
There isn’t much of a smell to the tea, but there is for sure flavour. You get the raspberry and pear fruity flavours first, and then the mint is almost like an afterthought.
Overall, very yummy and refreshing!

I am definitely growing to like this one! I am very excited because I was worried that I’d never find another mate that could capture my heart and taste buds like Chocolate Rocket, but then DAVIDs came out with this one! In terms of flavour, it is definitely citrusy with some nice earthy mate undertones. You get the citrus first, and then the green mate (which I was worried I wouldn’t like but now know that I enjoy). If you don’t like green mates, there is not enough flavour to mask it, but if you do, I highly recommend this tea, the citrus flavours complement the green mate taste wonderfully.

This is by far my favourite bagged tea. I get it every time I go to my local Coffee Culture (as the name would suggest, they sell mostly coffee and thus not loose leaf). I am not a huge chai person normally but this chai blend is excellent, very fragrant and flavourful without being overwhelming. Blended with the roobios makes an excellent combo. I double-steeped the bag and got largely the same flavour on the second steep. If you are looking for a bagged tea, this one is a must try!

drank Iced Princess by Teaopia

Happy Easter to me! Got a takeya iced tea pitcher and the iced tea party pack from Teaopia. This was my first attempt at making iced tea, and it was definitely a success! I cold brewed for 12 hours, about 6 teaspoons worth for the pitcher (probably could have used more tea, it is a little on the weak side). This tea is delicious iced (mind you, I have also never had it warm, but with a name like Iced Princess, there seemed to be only one proper way to do it right?). I don’t really taste the black or green teas, but rather the fruitiness of the apples, papaya and hibiscus. It is both sweet and a little tart (the hibiscus no doubt) and overall very pleasing and refreshing. If you don’t like hibiscus, you probably won’t like this tea. Also, if you don’t like the flavours to overwhelm the base of the tea, you won’t like this tea.
I’m thinking this begins a long summer of iced tea experimentation!

drank Birthday Cake by DAVIDsTEA

I tried this as the tea of the day yesterday. They had to make it special for me as they had run out, so I probably got an excellent sample. It was… yummy, no other real way to describe it. It did taste like cake and ice cream. It was very sweet and rich. Would have given it a higher rating but there are too many others of DAVIDs Rooibos that I like even better!

This one is very refreshing, I really enjoy the lemon and orange flavours. It is a little bitter, as green mate tends to be, but that goes well with the citrus. I usually enjoy sweeter teas so that is probably what is stopping me from giving it a better rating, but for the first green mate that I’ve tried, it hasn’t stopped me from wanting to try more. Overall, not one of my favourites, but will drink what I have enjoyably.

They were giving out samples of this iced as I walked by my local DT. I have never tried it hot but iced it is very refreshing. I found it to be flavourful and sweet enough without any sweetener, and very refreshing! I really like hibiscus and fruity teas so for people who share my enjoyment, try it iced!

I steeped this one four times today, and I find the flavour changes on each steep (but all four steeps were plenty flavourful)

Steep 1: Very minty, the mint overwhelms both the green tea and the spices. I love the mint!
Steep 2: Very balanced, the mint and spices compliment each other perfectly, i’m getting lots of pepper, ginger and cloves, mingling well with the remaining mint
Steep 3: the mint is largely gone, so the infusion becomes a spiced green tea which is delicious!
Steep 4: largely the same as steep three, a spiced green tea that has zing but is definately not too spicy to turn me off of this tea

If you are looking for a spiced mint or green tea, this is a great one to try. I find it to be very pleasing and it resteeps well!

Interesting. My roommate and I got some in the advent calendar and naturally I hated it, but we only tried one steep. I’d be curious to try the 3rd-4th steeps. How long/what temperature did you do them at?

Chellybean

About 85 degrees and for about 4 minutes, but I don’t really time or measure my temperatures…

I quite enjoy this one! I have seen many negative reviews, so in order to better understand my enjoyment of this tea, I will preface it with two disclosures:
1) I don’t really like black tea
2) I like hibiscus and slightly sour teas

This is a wonderfully fruity and tart black tea that I actually really enjoyed. I usually don’t like black tea but this is a black/green blend without any bitterness from the black tea. It is also heavily fruity, which I quite enjoy. The tartness of the hibiscus was quite enjoyable (for me at least). The colour of this one is also fantastic, such a bright pinky red, it alone makes me happy, and the smell is even better!
