42 Tasting Notes
I haven’t actually tasted this yet, but so far my first impression of the smell in my cup is this isht smells #cray.
First sip… Wow. Nasty…
Next sip… Wow. Something this gross is actually being mass-produced and sold?! dry heave
Next sip… Wow. Just wow. pour down the drain
I don’t mind curry. But in this tea, the curry does not make sense. The mix of flavors is just sickening. Blehkkk. Bye.
Preparation
I love black tea, so this is definitely my fave in the December ‘13 round of Steepster Select. I enjoyed mine with just a touch of local honey. Everyone else’s tasting notes hit the nail on the head, so I will refrain from paraphrasing. But can anyone tell me where I can purchase more of this tea? I checked out the In Pursuit of Tea website, but I didn’t see this particular one anywhere. Thanks!

Typically, I have to be in the mood for oolong. I’m not very familiar with them, and I’ve tasted a few I wasn’t very fond of. This is my new favorite oolong! The mild, sweet oolong flavor is definitely the perfect base for the soft and creamy strawberry flavor. It’s not too green tasting (eventually I’ll adopt the term “vegetal,” but I’m still a newb), and I think that’s what put me off with some of the other oolongs I’ve tried. I like that this tea is in the middle of straight tea and frou-frou flavored tea.

Awesome. That’s exactly what I thought – in the middle, not a straight tea, but not an in your face flavored tea. Unlike you – that bothered me. I would prefer one or the other – I felt like it couldn’t commit to being a flavored tea. Love how we all interpret these experiences differently. :))
The more tea I drink, the less I am able to enjoy a cup that relies mostly on artificial flavors. Most of the Della Terra dessert teas I’ve tried do just that. This one tastes just like a warm gooey cinnamon bun. There is a natural cinnamon flavor present, but there is also plenty of artificial flavor to back it up. It smells like a cinnamon bun candle. Honestly, I’d rather just eat a real cinnamon bun and wash it down with a cup of plain black tea.

My first cup of this tea was only somewhat delightful. After giving it a break for nearly 2 months, I’m ready to try again. I don’t know what’s different this time around, but I really like it now (bringing my original rating of 60 up to a solid 80 for me)!
I steeped it double-strength (a heaping tablespoon for a 12 ounce tumbler) with 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. The toasty cocoa/coffee flavor really satisfies on cold winter mornings when the heat in my car struggles to keep me warm during my 30 minute commute. :)

I want to hate Teavana. Really, I try. I want to go against the mainstream Starbucks hipsters and rub elbows with the underground tea snob hipsters. But the truth is, Teavana’s tea simply satisfies. So, shoot me.
I love cinnamon… Cinnamon sticks, cinnamon oil, ground cinnamon… It’s kinda my “thang.” I also love hibiscus and fruit in my tea. And I like my tea sweet (sometimes). This tea meets all of my criteria! Potpourri? Maybe. But it sure is some damn good potpourri. I’m in love.

There are a few teas that make me forget all of Teavana’s transgressions and just sip sip sip to my heart’s desire. This is definitely one of them. Call me unrefined. Call me a newb. Whatever. I. Love. This. Effing. Tea. It’s mostly fruit with a dusting of rooibos. The blueberry flavor is so fresh and fruity. The pineapple is kinda blurred by the other random fruity nuggets that are thrown into this blend. I like really tart teas, but this is NOT too tart. It’s just right to compliment the fruitiness. I don’t understand the horrible reviews, unless they’re just Teavana h8ers or straight up tea snobs. I got 4 ounces of this for Christmas, so I’ll be set til summer… Mmmm! <3

Part of my first month of Steepster Select…
I have to admit, when I first read the description that included the phrase “chewy mouthfeel” I was skeptical. What does that even mean?? I took one sip and thought, “Wow, I actually get it!” It has something that hits you in the cheeks, and if someone hadn’t pinpointed the word “chewy,” I would’ve never known how to describe that. My first cup brewed up cloudy. I’m definitely getting strong flavors of nori, fresh cut grass, and a subtle hint of nuttiness at the end (moreso when it’s still really hot). I usually prefer to drink green tea with honey, but the flavors of this tea are so complex and strong that I like them just the way they are. :)
